Know what I noticed?

When we have a commercial that involves cleaning the house (a commercial about spray, disinfectant, paper towels...), it usually focuses on a woman cleaning.

I just noticed this when I watched a commercial of a man and two kids messing up a kitchn, and a woman (who is probably meant to be the mother) freezes time so she could clean.

Escpecially since she did it while the kids were still making a mess. Thus making it a lesson in futility.

Fun fact: Jackie Chan said he'd like the power to stop time, but so he could warn people of disasters. (If he freezes time, wouldn't people be frozen, too?)

That's exactly why I hate those commercials. A woman cleaning the house and other actions traditionally labeled as "women's roles" is something that's still quite present in the general mentality of our society, due to centuries of inequality. Old views on gender roles still remain, but commercials like this really don't do anything to contribute to the opposite. But I guess some things have been part of people's lives for too long to go away so quickly.

And yes, I imagine that the people would also be frozen.

If I had time freezing powers I would remove everybody's clothes.

    ...But that's her family there.

If I could freeze time, I would rob a bank, and when I unfreeze time, I'll put half in my bank account. The other half I'll spend on puppies.

    Obligatory.

I expect types like Gloria Steinem to get in a huff about this, but just as equally, it's saying that men are incompetent.

^ And that kids are horid monsters who only have the sole purpose to hold you back, make a mess, and ruin your life.

Oh wait, that's a fact of life. Kids are awful. But then again, they're horid monsters, and those are freaking awesome. I want a pack of children now.

I've notice that certain make-up commercials start out similarly to chocolate commercials.

I remember quite a few commercials of that kind featuring men.

Well, that's good. Maybe we can find a pattern with these, so we can run a few simulations.

He's a mascot, and any cleaning he himself does is done by stunt doubles. (One actually ended up dating him, by the way.)

The last commercial I've seen of him had a woman cleaning, while he watched. With his arms crossed. Nodding.
