1. Johto
After helping a generic CotD with a problem Pokemon, they decided to help a generic CotD with a problem Pokemon. Team Rocket interrupts and captures the problem Pokemon. Ash rescues the problem Pokemon, and the Pokemon is no longer a problem. Then they leave, knowing that the Pokemon could easily become a problem due to the poor training of the Trainer.
2. Diamond and Pearl
After stopping to train for 4 episodes, Ash and co. meet Cynthia, who spits out generic and confusing gobbledygook that has very little relation to the situation. So Ash and co. decide to train. Paul interrupts them and beats Ash 6-0, causing Ash to train. After training, Paul wipes out every trainer in front of him, destroys and enrages Ash, then somehow learns humility by being beaten in an unfair match against an Elite Four member, and leaves. Ash decided to train. Dawn mentions something about a Contest and trains with Ash some more, while Brock watches and comments on their training. One of Ash's Pokemon learns a regular move that isn't really exciting or interesting, so the training payed off!
3. Best Wishes!
After losing his thirty-seventh tournament in a row, Ash decides to help a CotD by using Pikachu, Oshawott, Pignite and possibly Snivy. Iris calls him a kid, but no one pays attention to her because Cilan jumps up and screams into everyone's ears about how IT'S COLONOSCOPY TIME! Distracted by this and unable to think, Ash's Pokemon sans Pikachu and Pignite to lose their matches. Pikachu then defeats 6 opponents by itself, yet somehow still losing every match because winning is for losers. Iris comments that Ash is still such a kid, but is interrupted by Bianca pushing Ash into a fountain. They all share a hearty laugh as Leavanny plots to kill Ash's Pokemon so it can have Ash all to itself.
