How is it that this thread is six pages long and no one's brought up the most obvious reason why this whole "there will be no third game" thing is bull?
Which is that
Black & White sold an insane number of copies. It broke all the sales records for a Nintendo DS game in Japan (the previous record holder was
Dragon Quest IX), and it seems to be on track to be doing the same thing in the U.S.
Not releasing a third version would be the equivalent of Nintendo saying "no thanks; we have enough money already."
Platinum sold around 7 million copies, and
Emerald sold around 6 million. While these numbers aren't as impressive as the games that came before them(
Diamond & Pearl sold more than twice as much as
Platinum, for example), those numbers are still nothing to sneeze at.
Grey/Gray would most certainly give Nintendo millions and millions of dollars.
As others have said, this is nothing more than
PR / mistranslation / ignorance on the part of a TCG illustrator, of all people. You don't tell fans that a newer, better version of a game is coming out before the original version is even released. That's Business 101.
