Starter Evolutions and Mega Evolutions (My Stance)

We're going to be entering a new generation of Pokemon soon, and as always, we have people who are going to complain about changes to the franchises.

First off is the starter evolution controversy, namely the fears of Fennekin being a Fire/Fighting type, and I know a lot of people do not want Fire/Fighting to be used for the 4th time in a row, I understand this problem, and I honestly don't care what type Fennekin is when it evolves. While I want it to be Fire/Psychic myself (along with many others), I don't care if it's Fire/Fighting or even Fire/Fairy, a Pokemon is a Pokemon regardless of it's typing. I know a few people who like Emboar, so really, just accept what you get and stop complaining.

Secondly is the Mega evolutions, I went on my laptop earlier today to check my messages on DeviantART, and I get wave of complaint journals about how people are "leaving the franchise" and stuff because of these changes. For one thing, CoroCoro confirmed that these aren't required, they're OPTIONAL, so you can still have the regular Pokemon without changing them. For one thing, the concept of the B button has already been introduced, so people can choose to evolve their Pokemon or not, plus we have evolution items, which are the same kind of thing. You may not like them, but nobody's forcing you to have one.

Yes, I know a lot of people like Lucario (It's been one of my favorite Pokemon for years, and still is one of my favorites alongside Floatzel and Mienshao), and the ones that are mainly complaining about the Mega evolutions are the Lucario fans who are upset about their favorite Pokemon being altered, but really, it's just a forme, it's most likely interchangeable like Sky Shaymin and Deoxys are, nobody's forcing you to have the new Lucario forme, I don't mind the new forme but I like Lucario the way it is.

Seriously people, the games aren't even out yet, and already people are butthurt simply over an interesting new concept because they simply don't like change to the Pokemon franchise. Let me be honest, the franchise is 17 years old at this point, you think they wouldn't change up the formula just a bit every once in a while? They've made changes every generation to the meta game: Gen 2 Introduced Genders, eggs and breeding, and shiny Pokemon, as well as the Dark and Steel types, Gen 3 gave us natures and double battles, Gen 4 has the Physical/Special Split, Gen 5 gave us triple and rotation battles, and Gen 6 has, so far, introduced the Fairy type, Sky Battles and Hoardes.

I repeat myself: THE GAMES ARE NOT OUT YET! So stop panicking. Did the bronies complain when Lauren Faust left the production staff of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic (or better yet, when Twilight Sparkle became an alicorn princess)? Yes, but they eventually got over it. Did Star Trek fans complain about the changes made to the franchise in the J.J. Abrams films in 2009 and 2013? Yes, but they got over it. Mega evolutions are no different than those two, you'll complain about them today, but you'll get used to them better later.

And that's all I'm saying really, all I really even need to say for now. Just keep calm and don't go hating Pokemon!

You're saying it like "Oh if you don't like the new generations, you can play only generation I, nobody forces you to play generation 2/3/4/5/6 games"

It's not as easy as that, be more considerate. If people will want to play gen 6, they will have to experience the megaevolutions, want it or not want it, because it's a (huge) part of the whole now.
I wouldn't stop being a fan just because of that and I do think doing that is crazy, but I wouldn't disagree that this change is very severe and the game producers didn't consider the opinion of their fanbase and just shoved their ideas into the franchise without caring how will it be received.

The new evolutions are simply new items that, like many other items, power up a Pokémon. The only difference in that these can change appearances, which some items also actually do now.

I am trying to get a point across, because honestly, I feel like people are being ridiculous about this, the ones really complaining are the Lucario fans.

    >interesting new concept

I think you mean a pointless addition

While I don't like the Mega Forms, it'd be a waste of all my excitement if I didn't get XY. I plan on getting all future games regardless of the franchise changes. They could change the whole name and I would still plan on playing.

By the way, I have to agree with you on Fennekin. I really don't mind what the typing is, as long as it looks good.

I think he means interesting new concept :V

OT: I think the hatred will soften but it certainly is a bold move and not everyone will end up liking it but that's okay. I don't think these will be as game changing as it may seem and definitely not anywhere near as integral to later games as the Fairy type will be. If need be, they can drop this feature for future gens.

It's not a new concept at all, it's more of the same same gratuitous forme changing that Game Freak have been upping the ante on since Gen V. I really wanted them to dial it back this Gen, but then they went and did the opposite...
