Oh lawdy, what have I done?

Last night bore witness to the largest single spend on any Pokémon-related merhcandise in my life.
Earlier in the day, I had actually decided upon a limit that I wouldn't pass in order to retain a shred of dignity, but in the end it took nearly double that figure to win the prize.
Watching the timer count down towards the scheduled end, things seemed to be going okay, "surely nobody in their right mind would be staying up this late to bid on kids toys" I thought. However, people bidding on auctions are rarely in their right mind.
Around 2 minutes to go, an all-out bidding war or epic proportions started up between two dedicated nerds. As I observed their constant one-upmanship fueled by lack of sleep and a burning desire to each prove themselves the more dedicated fan, the bids started spiralling up to dizzy heights.
Resigned to my fate, I turned back to my Gameboy and considered the idea of just throwing in the towel and letting this one slide. I thought "Fuck it" and with 5 seconds to go, slapped down a bid so emphatic it would have made your nose bleed.
As the dust settled and the smoke cleared, I realised that I had calmed the two beasts and restored harmony to the world. Satisfied, I returned back to the skies to resume my travels and eternal vigilance, whereas those left behind to rue their losses had to return to slumber dissatisfied, defeated and frustrated.
All-in-all it turned out to be a pretty awesome victory.
As to what I purchased, well that'd be telling, but I will be posting photos once it arrives (hopefully shortly after Christmas). As to the price I paid, let's say that if I decided to separate out each item to sell to collectors individually, I believe that I could double my money straight away.
Of course, I wouldn't want to do that as it would defeat the purpose of assembling a collection, but maybe if we survive as a species long enough to make this investment pay off, I can look back to this time and say I made a good decision.
