So today I received my copy of Ocarina of Time 3D in the mail. I was looking forward to it, mainly because a) it's my third-favorite non-NES console Zelda (after Wind Waker and Majora's Mask, tied with Twilight Princess, and just a hair ahead of Link to the Past), and b) I can now play it wherever the hell I want (a big selling point for me with any game). What do I think so far?
~ The graphics are incredible. It's almost a little scary, actually, especially since the audio is almost exactly the same as before.
~ The controls are terrific. The new camera-tilting thing takes a little getting used to, but given how it fixes the original's biggest flaw (the uneven camera control), it's well worth any learning curve that comes along with it.
~ The 3D is... not great, actually. I dunno, it just didn't seem to work as well as it did when I played Street Fighter. *shrugs*
~ As fun as it is, there's something a little saddening about it (that has nothing to do with the game itself). As cool as it is to play a full-functioning 3D Zelda on a handheld, this is more or less the death toll for the Phantom Hourglass/Spirit Tracks style games. Remember when those were innovative and creative? Now they're completely outmoded, replaced by the preexisting technology they were supposed to bridge. Ah well.
That's all for now!

OoT 3D was awesome, mostly because it was my first Zelda game. The music was awesome and the 3D didn't really bother me.

Since I picked up a 3DS last week, I've been toying with the idea of picking up OoT 3D, even though I was never a Zelda fan. Think I might go ahead and order it on Amazon...

When it comes to remakes, you expect re-orchestrated music, fixed problems from the original, and new features, but all we got was a boss mode and mirror mode.

I'm playing the original Nintendo 64 version as we speak. It's difficult, though, because the cartridge is damaged and keeps glitching up on me. Even so, it's probably the best game I've ever played.

    I'm considering getting the 3DS version....just as soon as I get a 3DS.

Hmmm, good to know. I have yet to play OoT in any form, and I was wondering which version of it I should purchase.

I'll put off buying it on Virtual Console and for the N64 in favor of the 3DS version. Granted, it probably won't be for awhile, since I'm holding out for the 3DSLite and its improved battery life, but I can wait. Good things come to those who wait, and few would deny that OoT is a good thing.
