Hmm. I'd recommend 3 Doors Down, Lifehouse, My Chemical Romance, ect. That's all I got at this moment in time.

Hm. Not sure if you'd like it or not, but Broken Iris is... ambient rock, I think? They're absolutely amazing at what they do, imo; actually, they're my favorite band. X3 So, I mean, you might not like them, but they're worth a try! ^^

Pixies- Surfer Rosa/Come On Pilgrim and Doolittle are good albums (Hey, Caribou, Debaser and Where is my mind are my favourite songs, I have others but too long to list).

The Cure- Disintergration is my favourite album, check out Lullaby, Plainsong and Lovesong.

RHCP- Pretty much any album, but the ones with Frusciante are my favourites. I'd recommend pretty much any song from Stadium Arcadium, By The Way, Blood Sugar Sex Magic, Californication and I'm With You.

Weezer- Buddy Holly, Hash Pipe, Getchoo, Undone (The Sweater Song) and Pork and Beans are my favourites.

Pearl Jam- These are grunge rock, like Nirvana, Alice in Chains and Soundgarden (also worth a listen) and I don't know if you'll like them, but if you want, I'd say Ten is their best album, especially Jeremy, Even Flow and Black.

Biffy Clyro- This band is from Scotland and I think they're pretty awesome. I'd recommend Mountains, Saturday Superhouse, Living is a problem, and Bubbles.

If you want something heavier I'd check out System of a Down: Aerials, Toxicity, Chop Suey are some good songs.

Ok I might have got carried away but they all count as rock in some way or another :I

Mmm, RHCP is good, try The Sword, youll probably like them, Any 90s era grunge you'd prolly enjoy, like pearl jam, alice in chains,and Stone temple pilots. PM me if you want more, I listen to a ton of music.

I forgot about a lot of what was said above. So I'd definately recommend System of a Down, Incubus, Chevelle, Papa Roach, Pearl Jam, Radiohead, Alice in Chains, Disturbed, Sublime, The Cure, and the others I listed in my first comment.

If you want some good rockish bands, I'd suggest: Radiohead, Muse, Pavement, Pixies, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The White Stripes, The Dead Milkmen, The Flaming Lips, Sonic Youth and Grandaddy.

Have you heard of Alter Bridge? If not, GO MARATHON THAT SHIT. You're missing out.

Also, what sub-genres of metal are you considering? I listen to all kinds.

Radiohead. If I could only listen to one band foe the rest of my life, they'd be my first pick, no contest.
