Someone help me connect the dots here (BW2)

So in a surprising but delighting move, GameFreak introduces difficulty options to the mainstream games for the first time. Sounds good. Only:

-Difficulty settings aren't unlocked until you beat the game
-You can only have one file at a time
-Therefore, they hardly matter unless you want to restart and lose everything
-And to make matters worse: each difficulty level is actually initially exclusive to a different version

So yeah. Please explain it to me. Because I am baffled here...

Also, I'm pretty sure if you restart, you have to re-obtain the key, so you actually have to buy two if you don't have friends who play.

The bolded part is your answer.

I guess GameFreak needed a new way to "persuade" players to buy both versions since Wi-Fi trading and the GTS made it easy to acquire Pokemon from the opposite version, even for people who don't live near others who play. It doesn't even affect me since I'm getting B2 and my brother's getting W2, but the whole idea annoys me to no end.

Sometimes I'd like to think being one of Nintendo's Big Three would mean that Game Freak can produce Pokemon games for the art of gaming and not for the money....but then stuff like this happens.

I believe you can activate it within the first gamefile, so that the E4 rematch and Alder's grandson and such change levels.

Even when you unlock CM/AM and start a new game to try and fully play through in the mode, you have to re-unlock them if you wish to do another new game in CM/AM.

White 2 got very few notable things from the games compared to Black 2, imo. Assist mode is a joke from what I've seen of it, and the opponent's playstyle is similar to that of wild Pokemon in it (whereas B2's Gym Leaders and E4 are equally as challenging as the Emerald Battle Frontier Heads).
