Bethany - Dark type - Ironically, this comes from a bible passage. It also relates to the fact that Bethany gives out the Lazarus Badge. In the bible, Jesus supposedly resurrected Lazarus in the land of Bethany. Dark arts, wouldn't you say?
Petra - Rock type - Petra comes from two sources, the word petrify (to make into rock), and the ancient city of Petra in Jordan, which was carved into a cliffside like Mountreat Town. This is why she gives out the Cliffside Badge, which I considered naming the Jordan Badge.
Andrew - Steel type - Andrew gives out the Furnace Badge. Andrew Carnegie was a famous entrepreneur who perfected the blast furnace that allowed for mass production of steel. Also, my name IRL.
Lazlo - Water type - Lazlo sounds similar to lazuli, the common name for lazurite, a blue mineral with flowing designs, ironically found in the desert.
Alice - Ice type - Alice. This is just a copout, like what GF did with Candice.
Dr. Dustin - Ground type - Dust comes from where? The ground! Thank you. Another copout.
Serena - Grass type - The fields of grass around Serena's gym are quite serene. Also, it's ironic because you'd never expect somebody named Serena to be a criminal.
Evan - Various type - You caught me. I have new excuse! Evan is actually my ex IRL, but we get along. For some reason I made him into a criminal. XD
Erin - Psychic type - Erin is the classical name for Ireland, a land of friendly people and happy spirits! Maybe a bit too happy... **cue Twilight Zone theme**
Tristan - Fire type - Named after my best friend IRL. He's very fiesty, so fire is fitting. I also secretly (shh!) have a crush on him, so he lights a flame in my heart! /badjoke
Spectra - Ghost type - Spectra is based off of spectre, a synonym for ghost.
Jet - Fighting type - Jet is named after Jet Lee, the martial arts artisan!
Sawyer - Various type - Another best friend IRL, and Tristan's brother. I've had crushes on him as well, but less so than Tristan. Man, I'm a lovesick puppy. XD
Spencer - Ghost/Dragon type - I have no reason for this. If you can make a connection, go for it. The know that the Spencer family helped William the Conqueror invaded the British Isles way back when, though. They fought like dragons? XD
Alexander - Fire/Ground type - Alexander the Great was brave, and conquered half the known world. Alexander the gauntlet leader is brave to conquer Mt. Darin!
Duncan - Steel/Flying type - A Scotch name. The Hindenburg blimp crashed in New Jersey, and some of the first settlers in New Jersey were Scotch.
Sarah - Dragon/Rock type - Sarah means princess, and she is the daughter of the previous gauntlet leader. Also, Sarah is my best friend IRL.
Nikolai - Electric/Ground type - Nikolai is a variant of Nikola, and Nikola Tesla was a famous Serb scientist who worked with electricity and alternating current.
Finch - Ghost/Flying type - No excuse here, Finch is a made up character in the Honorshipping universe, which Ren the Ryoko and Kenji-kun came up with. Likewise, he's Flying/Ghost.
