An update on my opinions on Dawn's GF loss

As many of you know, I started a thread called "I think Dawn should've won the Sinnoh Grand Festival" rebutting the decision by the Anime writers to have Dawn lose the Grand Festival after all that she went through. Some agreed with me while many disagreed with me.
After thinking for sometime, taking all your opinions into consideration and rewatching DP177 in English, I have changed my opinion on Dawn's GF loss.
So what do I now think of Dawn's loss? Well, I still wish that she won or, at least, tied with Zoey but, in all honesty, I feel kinda neutral about her loss. It wasn't a good move done by the writers as Dawn now has never beaten her rival (as far as we know) but it wasn't exactly a bad move. I didn't like it but I didn't exactly hate how how it was played off as Dawn didn't cry about it. I was depressed as Dawn came so close to winning but, at the same time, I glad as Dawn picked herself back up.
But the thing about neutrality is that it's not a good feeling. I didn't want to feel neutral. I wanted Dawn to win. I wanted to jump for joy at the miracle of a Pokemon Anime Main character actually winning a regional tournament. I wanted to praise the writers for their best and most unpredictable move yet in Diamond & Pearl. I did NOT want to feel neutral over Dawn losing the GF.
Not to mention that I do mind that fact that the main characters that have a goal lose the regional tournament over and over and over and over and over again. It's become too goddamn predictable.
However, there are good things about this loss as it shows that Dawn didn't go down without a fight (a very good fight, I might add) and that she came very close to winning. Had she actually struck Gallade, she would've won. That's good to know.
Now before you disagree with your usual responses, allow me to pre-respond to them:
1. Dawn will return in Best Wishes. Maybe then she'll beat her rival or maybe tell Ash that she'll won her second Grand Festival.
Response: That may be true but, the sad thing is, we won't see it. If she cameos in BW and says she did win, it won't feel as good as actually seeing her win. That will just blow chunks. The phrase is "show, don't (just) tell." Also she'll probably not appear in Best Wishes at all, what with the whole "reboot" thing.
2. Dawn's loss to Zoey allows her to develop more.
Response: While Dawn's loss to Zoey allows her character to develop more, she should have been fully developed in time for the Grand Festival by the writers so that she'd win instead of focusing the episodes mostly on fillers and COTDs. Sorry, but I prefer my favorite characters to be fully developed in time to achieve their goals. They had 177 episodes to work with her character along with Ash. I just hate open endings that forget to tie up some loose ends sometimes and prefer closure for my favorite characters.
3. Zoey was the better coordinator in that battle and Dawn could not have won.
Response: People, this is a show about fictional character in a fictional world full of fictional creatures whose personalities, actions and stories are fully determined by real people. The writers could have easily written DP177 differently to have Dawn win. They could've had her Piplup/Togekiss combo attack strike down Gallade (causing it to faint) before time ran out, resulting in Zoey to lose all her remaining points and Dawn winning with a second to spare. They could've also rewritten the whole battle where Dawn gradually gains the upper hand over Zoey and wins.
The point is that this isn't a real life sports game being broadcast on TV where the winner is determined by fate or destiny. This is a Anime based on a video game that's completely fictional where the characters fates are determined by real people. Totally different! Get the picture?
4. If Dawn won, the fandom would be in an uproar.
Response: While this may be true for some fans, if it did actually happen, then many would probably change their minds (considering that Dawn won in a way that didn't seem like an asspull or something like that). Just because a main character never won a regional tournament so far does NOT mean Dawn shouldn't have been an exception.
Not to mention that the Anime production staff are catering towards kids and not older fans of the show. They don't know what goes on on these forums and probably don't care. So if they made a move in the Anime that was bad to us, they wouldn't have to deal with us since we aren't their target audience.
And that's it for now. Think whatever you want to think but this is what I think.
If you agree with me, then please reply. If you disagree with me, then reply anyways and I'll respond the best I can.
Please remember that this is my personal opinion. I am, by no means, claiming that this is a unanimous fact that everybody agrees on.
Also if you claim that I'm whining, then let me remind you that this is an open forum where opinions are meant to be discussed. I may be ranting but I am not shedding any tears from my two eyes.
