Well that scared me.

My Gamecube overheated this morning. I've had that Gamecube for nine years, and this is the second time it has overheated on me. Here's the story.

I was playing Spongebob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom on my Gamecube, on the Rock Bottom Advanced Darkness level. I was jumping around, not really doing what I was supposed to be doing. But right in mid-jump, the screen froze, and there was a very loud sound. Kinda like a beep, but it lasted forever. I turned off my Gamecube quickly, of course, and let it sit.

I'm fairly sure it overheated: That was the 5th time I played it today, and that was at 11am. I had been already playing for about an hour during that 5th time, so I kinda pretty much been playing it kinda constantly for five hours (Does that even make sense?). Plus, it's in a cabinet thing, so it can't get a super sufficent amount of air. THEN, I think there's a load of dust back there.

I wanna go play my Gamecube now, but I'm afraid it'll freeze again, or worse...like, my Memory Card is wiped or something.

IF MY MEMORY CARD IS WIPED, I WILL GO FUCKING BASHIT.

0_o that sort of thing happened with my Wii the other day right in the middle of a Boss battle on Paper Mario. I unplugged it and plugged it back in and it was normal. Dunno if it overheated or not.

Umm...maybe you should pull it out of that cabinet to play it, then. :<

vacum the air vent maybe there is also lots of dust inside be sure that is turned off though.
Helped with my laptop when it overheated, scared the crap outa me. Then someone advised me to vacum it and it worked, but a classmate of mine did it with his laptop in hybernate ruined his fan.

    Maybe that will help.

edit: look first if that can be done, because I have no experiences with the gamecube though.
