I'm trying to breed a Natu and Skarmory together, so I can ultimately get a Ducklett with Steel Wing and Lucky Chant. But at the very beginning, I'm already having some problems.

The goddamn old man at the Day Care keeps saying "The two Pokemon prefer to play with other Pokemon." So they can't breed.

But Natu and Skarmory are in the same Egg Group, you jackass. They can breed together.

AND ONE IS MALE AND ONE IS FEMALE.

I DON'T GET WHAT'S GOING ON.

They can still breed. It just means it'll take a while for them to overcome their racial prejudices and disapproving families to unite and bone.

That, or you just got a problem with their different sizes. Natu is 0.2 meters tall and Skarmory is 1.7 meters. It's a little difficult for them to breed with those size difference. You think evolving Natu into Xatu might help? (joking)

Nonsense. If a cat and a whale can come together in an act of love, so can these two birds.

    Edit: What Missy said. :P
