Pokemon wut

So if anyone has spoken to me in any detail about Pokemon before they probably realised how just... awfully unaware I am about everything Pokemon. I don't know the different natures, a lot of abilities and there are only a few moves that I could say any specific Pokemon would be able to learn (not even that).

So a question to all of you who seem to know move lists and stuff for seemingly every single Pokemon and know the difference between everything... how? I don't have a bad memory, maybe it's my lack of motivation to learn. It just sounds stupid, being bad at Pokemon especially since I've played it since I was about 6.

Maybe I'm just lazy... probably.

I just like reading the pedia and often refer to it when answering questions in the SQSA threads. After a while, it just became second nature for me know what the answers where or that i'd know exactly how to find out. I am a VG mod after all ;)

Ultra casual. Real fans pulpify Pokemon game manuals and inject them into their bloodstream to gain their knowledge.

Playing for so many years I guess and my memory is very good. I mostly play competitive and it has got to the point where I'm estimating damage calculations in my head during battle and getting pretty close.

If you play competitively, this stuff comes natural. I'm not quite there yet but I'm getting close.

Just playing the games and looking through the Pokedex strategy guides will ingrain the knowledge into one's brain.

It's not like I actively try to remember names, I just happen to remember them. Checking smogon ocasionally helps though.

I don't know stuff too, you're not alone. I'm not really a competitive battler so yeah, I don't really know stuff about natures, EVs or IVs. Oh and the reason why I check a Pokémon's nature when I catch it is because I want to know its personality, not to know its stats or whatever.

I have been battling competitively since all most 2 years and I pretty much know everything about all OU pokemon. I know the most common sets they, run, their movepools, etc. Towards the end of b1w1 metagame, I could accurately judge how much an attack will do. Although, I havent battled much since June so, I have lost a bit of my touch. It becomes second nature to you after some time.
