Oh look, another rant.

Hey hey it's me again. Ranting about the Pokemon anime even though no-one cares.
See, episode 5 aired in the dub today. So I guess this is sort of, the last stage in all those other 'stages' beforehand. Cilan has now been introduced, the trio for best wishes has been set up. (Well, in the next episode it will be, but..)

I went back and rewatched Brock's special the other day. I've come to the conclusion that it really could have been the last time we see Brock. I like(d) going around thinking that the writers couldn't possibly never bring up Ash's best friend again. Brock is his best friend, and it would be awful if he never appeared again. But I'm not as optimistic anymore. I will carry on complaining to whoever will listen about this until the poor writing gets fixed.

Watching that episode, it seemed like they completely wrapped him up. OK, maybe he hasn't been a doctor yet, maybe he hasn't even entered the entrance exam yet, but there are several factors that finished up Brock's personal story. For starters, his brother is now oficially gym leader. His parents also agreed that they should be nicer and stick around more often. So where are any new potential stories going to come from? They're not. Everything to do with the Pewter city has been solved, so any chance of another special to do with Brock at home doesn't really have any chance of happening. Lola told Brock he had changed, he used to be more passive. This and along with others were seemingly strange things to put in his episode. For example, the battle he had... he lost. Badly. I really don't get why it'd be a good idea to make him lose SO BADLY. Nurse Joy said that battling was unacceptable. Brock was originally shown to be strong, Ash didn't actually outright beat him ever, and whatever sign of Brock's history of being the first gym leader Ash ever met have been long gone ever since Kanto. His sudowoodo is strong, he raised him from a baby. So why did they make him fail so bad?

Did I mention the photos in his room? Perhaps I'm being over analytical, but was the reason for that to just hint at all the past regions Ash/Brock have been to, or was it a sort of 'This is all of Brock's memories, this is it for him on the show'. I don't know what to take of it, but I don't like it.

Now Cilan has dubuted in English, I don't know what to think. Should I stick on complaining about it? I like the dub, I really do. I grew up with it and I'd never truly abandon it, but for starters my favourite dub voice actor isn't on the show anymore, Brock isn't on the show anymore, Cilan IS on the show, and Brock's Japanese voice actor has seemed to disappear from voice acting for good.

I think you should continue watching and fully accept Dento in your heart *runs*

But yeah, Brock's story seems pretty wrapped up. I'm sure he has more memorabilia of his travels with Ash stored up somewhere ^^; Even so, I do wish he had a more decent battle before he left.

I'm still hopeful for silent cameos though :P

I'm going to recommend that you do not complain about it anymore, because if you don't accept the change than you will just continue to be upset about it.

Plus you have fours saga's worth of episodes with Brock in to watch. That's what I do for my favourite characters; go back and watch the moments that made me like them. I don't need anymore than that.

Also, Dento isn't to blame. As Pigg said, embrace him!

See, the thing is. Even if Dento hadn't replaced Brock, I probably wouldn't have liked him anyway. That whole food pun thing he does is really unamusing to me, and honestly I just don't like him. That's nothing malicious, I just don't find him interesting at all.

Well, yeah. I don't doubt he has stuff to remember his travels by, but I wonder if by putting those pictures up it was the writers way of hinting he won't be seen again. That special, whilst I enjoyed it, shouldn't have been Brock's laste ever episode. It didn't even focus on the good sides of him. Although now his home story is over and I'm really not happy about that.

Well, same. But I wan't more than silent cameos - he really was his best friend after all. But I worry that his voice actor has quit from the show/voice acting altogether. I really hope not.

I know, and even though this sounds strange, I don't like Brock that much for the majority of his time on the show. I only really liked him in BF/Sinnoh. & it's not the same as him being in new episodes, catching new pokemon and having new adventures. I've seen them all before, I know all his pokemon and it's really not the same. He's been on the show for 13 years. I'm really struggling to work out what other show had a character that went through a canon storyline for THIRTEEN years and then got axed from it.

I get what you mean and to be honest i dont think Brock deserves to be axed permanently from this show never to be seen again nor i believe this will be the case.

While it may be true how all connections to Pewter gym have been resolved(though they could always reopen it creating some new subplot involving gym like another problem popping out in his disfunctional family),in reality Brocks story as character hasnt been wrapped up completely having open things on which writers could expand.

He still has that doctor career he strives for and there definitely exist material which writers could utilize having focus on Brock outside of gym.Like showing him trying to overcome possible tasks he might need to take to become doctor aside from studying practicing his knowleadge on terrain, have him being showed how he prepares for final exam and taking this opportunity to have him battle against examinator to test his knowleadge in other fields beside healing and taking care of pokemon,to clear up whether he plans to open pokemon care center in his hometown or wants to become traveling doctor.

Later decision would also increase his chances to travell to different regions to learn and explore new pokemon having convenient excuse to meet up with Ash and group.

Speaking of any focus taking place in Pewter gym battle between Brock and Forrest is another posibillity too.Forrest views his older brother as idol admiring him and proving his battling skills against him would serve as final confirmation to his character that he is truly ready to take his place.

So with this being said i dont think we seen last of Brock and im sure well liked and iconic character from original series wont be forgotten.

Yeah, I hope not. But I honestly think it depends on if his Voice actor has quit or if he's still willing to get called in when needed. I just don't see the writers completely getting rid of him, he was in the show from the start only 20 episodes ago. It's just slightly irritating, how the last scene of him we saw was him on the floor. I guess that's funny - but seems like a bit of a tease if we never see him again.

I doubt they'd revisit Pewter gym again, unless Ash goes back to Kanto or something (to re challenge the gyms is what I want to see... before he becomes master)... but, I don't think we'll get any more specials of Brock. Especially about the gym. Perhaps if he's in doctor school, but the only place I want to see his 'school' be is in Kanto, or possibly unova where there is a doctor training class. Though that means AFTER Unova he won't be seen.

I hope they don't forget him. He's Ash's best friend, and one of the original characters of the show, outlasting all 5 other traveling companions of Ash.

In all honesty its not just Brock, I don't think any of Ash's older friends will appear for the forseeable future.

Dawn's special also seemed like obvious closure for her, they told us where she's going, solved her last Pokemon problem, and battled her mother one last time.

Likewise, its also obvious the Wallace Cup was May's last hurrah in the anime, especially given there are no more contests.

The writers are simply wrapping up all the old major characters, not just Brock. And most of us believe Team Rocket are leaving next, so its not just one particular character.

I realize Brock's your favorite, but its the writers wanting to wrap up the entire older cast in general.

Im not sure why are you so much obsessed with characters getting closure especially when we take in account how none of characters got their stories closed completely.
Writers are getting rid of them but in reality only Tracey got real closure achieving his goal.

May and Dawn left with an open end still not being top coordinators, same for Brock.Max due to no aging never got closure and probably never will while Misty left with unfinished story. Her goal was to become water master just to end up as gym leader randomly with cronicles not wrapping up anything with plots in story not being developed forward.

Im sure we will see all older characters again and Brock has pretty good chance of appearing in Best Wishes getting at least one regional cameo like everyone else did.If he becomes travelling doctor than his chances increases since his journey can lead him anywhere.
