A Fail of a Manaphy

So, after much excitement, I have finally hatched a Manaphy which leaves me at two Pokemon to go. One of which, Latias, is out of my pure laziness and the uncooperation of the roaming legendaries in Heart Gold. The other, Phione, will come incredibly soon for I have the Wonder Card Manaphy in my grasp and hatched.
Anyway, I was curious as to find out what the IVs were of the rare Legendary Pokemon. With an IV calculator ready, I ran it against the Sinnoh E4 to gain some experience from when my Wi-Fi battling team destroyed the foes.
The first thing that I noticed, which pleased me, was that my Special-based Manaphy had a flawless Special Attack IV. The second thing, however, changed that. The blue Pokemon's nature was Adamant. For those of you who don't know, a hindering nature is worse for a particular stat than an IV of 0 is. I was crestfallen. I had no idea what to do with such a Pokemon; there was no way that I'd be able to use it in the metagame or elsewhere.
I then turned to my friends on AIM. They confirmed that it was impossible to reset for a different nature and/or IVs once I'd acquired the egg. Still discouraged, I discovered, with the help of a friend, that I could transfer the IV onto a Phione during the breeding process and use that to battle. Now all I need is a good Ditto and I can take over the world!
