There are 6 apples in a basket. I take 4, but there are now 10 apples in the basket. How is this possible? (Source: Another Braingle puzzle of mine.)
You did not specify where the 4 apples came from. That must be it. You know, the 4 apples must not be from the basket - you put them into the basket, and the apples were taken from somewhere else.
