Best Wishes, lessons learned, and a fresh start for XY

Dear God, I hope this works.

It's no secret than the entire mood of the anime section has changed, people have left, many for different reasons, things simply aren't like they used to be during DP. I am not sure if it's because of the lack of interest in BW or because of the constant negativity that's been spread around due to unhappiness with Best Wishes (many have stopped vising the forums or posting there because of the negativity) - so maybe both? And that negativity kinda affected me too, to the point where I engaged into heated discussions and kept on arguing despite knowing it wasn't healthy for me.

The negativity got to me despite the fact I actually liked BW and its characters. And it got to the others too. Indeed, it's not as fun as it used to be. So I really, really hope these new rules bring about some change. I don't want any more negativity, I hope it all goes away in that rant thread.

It's okay not being happy with an episode or expressing your disapproval for certain choices, but the amount of negativity caused by BW was simply too much.

Here's to hoping XY indeed marks a fresh start for this anime section. :/

Same here. I've only posted for a short while here now, but I've noticed the sheer negative atmosphere around the anime section. I too have nothing against certain negativity, if only it doesn't affect my and other's moods to go to the anime section. I hope it will change...

ive reall stopped posting due to a lack of relativly new topics and post thst spark my interest. the negativity doesnt bother me one bit. i find it interesting to see why users disliked or liked a certain episode, character, ect. but wiht most bulbagardners who have many years of watching pokemon under their belt, they become accusto to what made pokemon great in their own thoughts. even though some of the new series such as BW had their epic moments (excadrill on the boat, ducklett, ect) but when they dumb down seasoned characters, reuse old storylines and plots, and stuff them full of filler and bad jokes, then negativity will flourish. as seeing how negativity has encreased with each season, it would be wise not to bet the farm and the Pontiac on that the anime section will lose negativity

Unfortunately ever since BW started its like change divided people on this site in basically pro BW vs anti BW turning place into hell and sucking out any doze of fun, excitement and lighthearted atmosphere it used to have. Especially anime section which through past three years became dreadful abomination and shadow of what it used to be before composed mostly from bitching and moaning how DP was "best thing ever" and "BW is pivotal excuse of poor man region like original series were". Things were different back than when i joined with AG or OS along with characters from this era being acknowledged for good points too, though those were some other times with different members being here back than.

I miss good old days when discussion was diverse, flew peacefully and respectful where people could freely express their opinion without living in fear of being attacked. Where they could talk unboundly about things they like, dislike with others in relaxing and most importantly fun manner not feeling pressurized and watching out what they will say about something they might like, but is unpopular in here.

Many great fans i knew, good people which contributed to intelligent, thoughtful discussion. Who were mature knowing how to debate and express criticism or preference toward something constructively without putting other people opinions down have left this place because of this. Incredible amount of negativity, mindless sagas or character bashing accompanied with trolls which through instigating remarks try to spur people up and have threads end up derailed in war zones full of arguing, personal insults and disrespect alienated them from bulbagarden feeling helpless and disgusted of witnessing how far situation escalated.

I thought about giving up and leaving myself but i have some faith left in this place becoming better, more enjoyable and positive without posters getting attacked or characters, sagas some may like being disparaged and slured.

Maybe I wouldn't bitch so much about the community if it hadn't become so toxic and cancerous over the years, then again that's just me.

What happened is that the community was allowed too much freedom to say basically whatever negative ranting they wanted so long as they didn't cross the "rules". Its just as garrison-san said that problems were simply being redirected instead of dealt with, and I can't express my gratitude enough that they are finally striving to improve things. But beyond that yes, the anime has done many things to cause divide in the fandom. Why do you think I support the idea of fan campaigns so much? Because I want the fandom to put their differences aside, accept each others opinions, and work toward common goals.

Yes, I am part of the negativity as well. I think all of us are to an extent. The anime has caused a lot of rifts and divides in the fandom over the last few years, most of which are pretty understandable. It is sad as someone who started from the very beginning to see how the anime has undergone several changes, some for the better and others for the worse, but we've got to try to be more positive. I know it's frustrating for a lot of us to see the anime as it is now, though. It really is.

That being said if fans don't like the way things are going, we're going to have to start doing things about it eventually, and encouraging changes for what each of us feels is best for the show. From the looks of things now, it doesn't look like the anime is doing well, IMHO. Fan campaigns definitely need to be encouraged if they are being done so that people can express their opinions in a polite manner. Whether we have problems with the older or newer characters, writers, older or newer voices, older or new scripts, it doesn't matter. What does matter is that fans are allowed to voice their opinions and discuss what each of us thinks is best for the series.

I feel the pain on BW the fandom has had: I felt the same about DP in a lot of ways. I'll probably end up feeling the same way about XY as I did DP, but then maybe I'm jumping the gun a bit. Either way, I think it's good that the fans can discuss how we feel about things with each other. Criticism is needed if things are going to change for the better. However, we should try to be polite about it as well.

I think a lot of people just lost interest in the anime due to its never-ending cycle. AG and DP didn't feel like that, (at least not to me), so it felt you were watching something leading to a conclusion.

Honestly people jumped ship when Ash lost to Tobias. The 4 years of foreshadowing of Ash battling Elite 4 and/or Champion league squashed in an instant ruined the show. Ash really should have won the league in DP, and to go from that defeat to seeing him actually rebooted and doing worse than before completely ruined the show.

Anyone who spent 4 years watching DP would of course be disappointed. In a way I also blame Sinnoh itself, because that saga went on too damn long and should have never promised us a finale if we were never going to get one.

I feel you, man. I would've been fine watching Ash winning the Sinnoh League and then the Champion League, becoming a Pokemon Master. I was disappointed too when I watched the 4 years of DP as well, and that's how everything ended up. Agreed. It's very sad.

That was the problem also, DP went on too damn long, so we were expecting big payoff in the end. We never spent 190+ episodes in a single region before, and with Ash battling Paul and him actually using older pokemon in the league (which he didn't do in Hoenn or Unova), it actually felt like he was going to win this time.

They could have simply had Ash lose to Cynthia and it would have been better, at least he would have won the standard league and beat some Elite 4 members up to the champion.

I think all the negativity is a by-product of them "regressing" Ash. I am pretty sure, Iris and Cilan would have been the most loved characters if that didn't happen, the latter because he's lovable and the former because it's been a while since the female lead kicked Ash's ass. I know it's not fair. Bur people are biased. Bias runs discussion, because there won't be anything to arguments if people are unbiased.

(I personally believe Ash didn't regress and was only portrayed poorly)

BW series got pure negativity because it was a pathetic series that aim to hurt Ash-fans !!!!
and It got the Negativity it deserve .
Hopefully their won't be any trash series like BW series .
Hopefully we will get a series that Plot-based like DP Series but also as hilarious as Original series .
BW Series can't touch even the Original series in Humor .
Because Original series was as hilarious as Fairy Tail Or Sgt Frog But BW Series humor is just annoying .
Even the Original Ash was much more competent then BW Ash .
Honestly people jumped ship when Ash lost to Tobias. The 4 years of foreshadowing of Ash battling Elite 4 and/or Champion league squashed in an instant ruined the show.
So , Does this one Mistake make DP series less enjoying then BW series which is just filled with Mistake !
Ya , Gym battle was fasten in BW series !
But does it did any good ?????
Because as I see , Fasten the series cause Neglection of all character development and rushing all Pokemon battle to be boring .
Suppose , Writer took it slow like DP series .
Then may be we will get see proper development BW Character and enjoyable Pokemon Battle .
May be , We would watching Unova League today instate of Pokemon Da Journey if Writer took it slow .
But Atleast We would see a Better League where Ash lose to an competent trainer with Syslvion Or Mega Lucario !!!!
I think Slower Pace in a series is much better then faster pace !

True, I would have liked BW more if I didn't frequent the forums and posted shit. I didn't post much during the DP era, so I liked because the opinion I had on it was purely an optimistic one, and of course utterly biased. But forums do have their benefits. Your opinion gets more balanced as you speak with people :)

i agree with sinnoh going on too long. -_- i stopped watching around 2009, tried to watch BW when it first premired in japan in 2010 and it bored me. did'nt get back into the series into mid 2012. I can't stop watching it now due to the fact that in 2 months the bw series will end.
