Why? Because the thread lost its purpose long time ago.
No it didn't. You just heavily disagree with many of the posters in it *shrugs*
@Taiki - Let's be honest. The thread become the opposite of a debate. :/
Because people are desperate to see her in the next Smash Bros. game as oppose to another worthy female trainer like Dawn or Hilda?
@Ghetsis-Dennis We're in gen V. Dawn is not gen V, nor gen I, meaning she is not a worthy female trainer for smash bros.
Oh dear god... <_<
@Mijzelffan But I wish to hear her voice interacting with other fighters with deep voices (Fox, Captain Falcon, Pit, etc.).

Just out of curiosity, what do you feel that the puropse of the thread is at the moment? Because looking at the last few pages, I see posters who both like, dislike or feel ambivalent towards Iris express satisfaction or disatisfaction towards her character in general (rather than any specific episode), all bringing forth arguments and pointing to specific storylines or character traits that they like or dislike about her as a character. Then they question each other's arguments. That sounds very much like a debate to me, and the purpose with which the thread was created.
On closing the thread, our job as moderators is not to censor opinions but to moderate discussions, i.e. making sure that users are free to express their opinions, whichever they may be, as long as those opinions are relevent to the topic and do not contain personal attacks against users or groups of users. Some users want to discuss Iris' character in general and are willing to do so politely and without attacking others. I see no reason to deny that request and if certain posts feel to some like they are breaking rules, users are always encouraged to report them.
I'm saying this because I'm sensing a lot of negativity out of the thread. I'd say more but my fear of getting infracted or banned is much larger than expressing my honest opinion.

My reckless actions usually lead to violating the rules which is why I won't bother going any further into my opinion. I fear I might just cause trouble.

Negativity out of a thread is not a reason to close it. We don't censor negative opinions on the characters or the show. If someone wants to be in an environment where only positive things are said, then a Fan Club is the place to go.
