Enzap's LeafGreen Playthrough pt 9 - Thunderbolts and Lightning Very Very Frightening

I know it's been forever, but I am still doing this playthrough. Bear with me please.
Last time, I had just picked up Surf in the Safari Zone, and I knew just what I want to do with it.
But first, I had another objective in mind. I went down the East side of the Kanto region for training. The trainers were pretty weak, so I didn't get massive amounts of experience. But every bit counts in this game.
My original plan was to them move on to Sabrina, but I decided that first I wanted to be able to use Surf outside of battle, and I was in Fuchsia City anyway. So I changed my plans and challenged the Fuchsia gym first.
This gym has always bothered me a bit. The puzzle is cool and I like Koga, but all of the jr. trainers collectively have a total of 1 Poison type. That's a pretty sad total for a Poison gym, imo. I worked through the trainers and quickly reached the gym leader himself.
Those Koffing were flipping annoying. Both of them self-destructed on my Bianchi, knocking her out. To be honest I don't exactly remember how I took out Muk. I think I used a few of I-Pin's Body Slams. Weezing just took a couple of Yamamoto's Surfs. So overall, Koga wasn't so hard.
After that, it was time to use all the tools I had collected over the past few chapters. I hiked back up toward Rock Tunnel and Surfed over to the Power Plant. A Pokemaniac was blocking my path, but I defeated him easily. The inside of the building took less time to navigate than I remembered, and at the end was the prize I was looking for. I approached the Legendary Zapdos and engaged in a battle. It was over pretty quick since I immediately threw my Master Ball at it. I named the new addition to my team Lambo.
Stay tuned! More should be on its way soon!
