So currently, in HG, I'm using Quagsire as my Water type. But I don't know whether to swap it out and use a Lanturn for it instead. But then, I really like Poliwrath too, so I'm not sure whether to get a Poliwag and train it up.

So blog lurkers of BMGf: should I stick with Quagsire or change to Lanturn or maybe change to Poliwrath?

Well, based on the exact same problem I had in Crystal, I would go with Poliwrath. But in HG, I really don't know :/

Slugma/Sudowoodo/Heracross/Noctowl/Furret

though it isn't going to stay that way the further I get through the game (I'll most likely drop Slugma and Sudowoodo at some point).

Change to Lanturn. Lanturn has a good HP stat with an awesome ability "Volt Absorb".

If you keep one of Slugma or Sudowoodo I would change Quagsire for Lanturn or Poliwrath because most Rock type Pokémon can learn Ground type moves which is the secondary type of Quagsire. I've used Poliwrath in my LeafGreen version party and have never used Lanturn but I also like to keep an Electric type Pokémon in my party because it only has one weakness so Lanturn may be useful in your party.

Jolly Poliwrath with Hypnosis and Focus Punch is a great combo, I'd definitely recommend it. Then again, I'd recommend any Poli cos it's awesome.

I say use Lantern and replace Slugma with another Fire type so you won't be at a disadvantage for having two Rock types in your team.
