I hope not and people have been wanting the light type since 5th gen came out. I don't think they've ever added new types since gen 1 came out. Besides, the way people are discussing it, this "light" type is equivalent to the fighting type.

They want the light type to counter the dark type but we already have fighting and bug for that.

For me personally, it's not so much a Light-type that I really want. It's just the prospect of a new type for Sylveon seems really interesting and actually possible at this point. I would actually put a new type on par with Normal-type and Flying-type. Not that I want a new type, but I think it's possible.

But I completely understand where your coming from. A new type at this point in the series would be unneeded and a little random. But hey they're always changing it up in this series so who knows. Maybe it will be a welcome change.

People have been wanting a light type, or any other new type, since Gen III I believe. All because Gen II added two new types. What people seem to miss is that Dark and Steel types were added to balance the type chart.

And we still have an unbalanced type chart.

It's been over 10 years since we last got new types, and I can only imagine what new possibilities it could add into the game if they balanced it right.

I'm beginning to think that a balanced type chart isn't really even the most necessary thing. I think it being unbalanced makes it more interesting.

But I also think the addition of a new type would be incredibly interesting. People have been pretty set with the current 17 types we've had for over 10 years. New type combinations every gen change it up a bit, but adding an entire new type would shake it up so much. I simply see it as having the potential to be so exciting. Just the addition of a single new type could make playing through the game for the first time actually feel like something new, because you'd still be learning about the new type. People aversive to the change to me seem set in what they see as safe.
