So, for Sociology, I have a project to do over the next few weeks. The first part of the project is to come up with a preliminary list of 35 events in the past 20 years that I think had a major impact on American culture, and I have to turn that list in on Friday.

...I only have 3 so far.

Any suggestions? ._. And please, no jokes, this is serious.

The ones I can think of are related to pop culture. Some of these just seem like notable events, rather than influential events:
    The invention of the iPod.
Halle Berry becomes the first black woman to win the Oscar for Best leading actress.
    Founding of Google.
Pokemon franchise enters the North American market (I'm completely serious).
The dot-com crash (mainly related to corporate and market culture).

    - Hurricane Katrina (the only weather disaster we're allowed to include)
    - Tea Party movement

Hmm...maybe the founding of Google would be a good one, actually...
