Yay, someone's actually reading this! ^.^

So anyway, I was preparing my Pokémon for the Battle Subway, so I decided to buy some Power items to help with EV training. After figuring out a good Speed to hit, I gave my Archeops a Power Weight and went to Route 3 to train on wild Basculin. After fighting about 10 of them, I figured that I had 60 more Speed EVs (2 + 4 extra from the item for each one I fought), so I checked its stats. Its Speed had gone up by 2.

What?

With 60 more EVs, it should have 15 more points at 100, which meant it should have gained at least 7 or 8 points at level 50. What was wrong? Did I already max out my Speed? Didn't seem like it. Anyway, I had to go, so I saved and turned it off.

The next day, when I went back, I continued training, but still, its Speed only went up by 1 or 2 points. This assured me that I did not max it out yet, so what was wrong? I checked Bulbapedia to make sure Basculin gave Speed EVs, so that was okay. I checked that it was holding the Power Weight, and it was. Basculin, Power Weight, Basculin, Power Weight, what was missing? Wait a minute...

I took the Power Weight off and checked the description.

"A Pokémon held item that promotes HP gain on leveling, but reduces the Speed stat. "

tl;dr: I'm stupid.

I know descriptions seem useless, but they're there for a reason.
It's of utmost importance that you know the difference in quality between a Great rod and a Super rod.

    Yup.

Too bad I saved...oh well, I guess I could use the extra 6 or 7 points of HP. xP
