NaNoWriMo Day 1

So, I'm participating in National Novel Writing Month this year. The story I'm writing is original, rather than fanfiction, so I'm excited about that. I don't really want to give the whole thing away, but I will say that it's about a more realistic take on superheroes, similar in nature to Christopher Nolan's take on Batman.
So, anyways, I sat down at about 5:30 PM CDT or so to start, and it is now 8:30. I've only gotten a little over a page done so far, but I think it's solid work. 948 words. That's the first scene of the first chapter. I'm not quitting for the night just yet, though. I'd like to at least hit one thousand words before I go to bed. I'll probably go at it for a while longer tomorrow, since I don't have to wake up early Saturday morning.
I'm also kinda skimming through some of my old Michael Crichton novels to help me get into the groove. There was something about that man's writing... So scientific, yet so fantastic at the same time. A similar balance is what I'm aiming for.
You can follow my progress on Twitter, @cabrpi. I'll mark all my related tweets with #writing, so you know which ones to pay attention to. :P
