I'm at a loss as to which starter I'll be choosing, but I'm sure I'll come to favor one of them. Right now, I think Froakie is my least favorite, but I don't dislike it. I probably favor Fennekin right now, but I think Chespin is pretty cool.

Apparently, the region is based on Europe, and the legendaries they showed are based on Norse myth. Cool. See, three animals lived in Yggdrasil: a stag (X), an eagle (Y), and a dragon. Do you know what this means.

Pokémon Z will have a dragon as its cover legendary.

Okay, IF they make a Z version. Game Freak have screwed the system so much in Gen 5.

First off, I'd like to thank everyone who has put so much work, so much of their own time and effort into making this site such a comprehensive, user-friendly, and all-around nice place. I can count the forums I've frequented consistently for so long on one hand. It's a very rare thing indeed when a community this large manages to stay so friendly and close-knit.

I'd like to specifically mention:
@Gama; for being such an inspiring figure in the Writer's Workshop. There's a lot of negative stigma against fan fiction, and I know few people who've worked so hard to reverse that stigma.
@Legacy; for going out of his way to read at least the first chapter of practically every fic that gets posted in the Workshop.
@Stellar Gale; for his unending patience with my poor reading habits. :P

@Karamazov; for hating us ALL.

@Ultra Pidgeot;, @VirtualAnomaly;, and @RaccoonGoon; for being great buds.

And @Kodizzle.; for being my best Internet friend.

In the next few weeks, I'm leaving to attend Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. I really hope this doesn't impede on my time here too much, but I can't promise I'll be around so much. It's been a good year when everything's said and done, but I'm hoping I can make 2013 even better. I've got a lot in store for the year, and I'm hoping I will make it all happen.

See, I live in Texas, and it was in the '80s (Farenheight) practically all last week. It started raining on and off late last night, and then the thunderstorms began around 5:00 this morning. There was a little hail, but nothing damaging as far as I know.

And then my dad woke up to take a heartburn pill at 6. My little brothers took this as their cue. @_@ Two years ago, they got everyone up at 4:45.

So anyways, I went back to sleep after we opened all our presents, woke up later, and helped my middle brother set up his new Playstation.

I've spent most of the afternoon watching One Piece (not a gift, but I did get Collections 6-8 this morning). I also received the Cowboy Bebop Complete Collection, and an Android Tablet from my grandparents for college. After healing up, I head outside and walk toward the Ilex Forest. Silver catches up to me and "interrogates" me about Team Rocket. LOL. He challenges me to a "battle", and actually puts up a decent fight this time with his Croconaw, but it's nothing my boys can't handle. Zubat and Gastly both fall to Dudette's Rock Slide in a single hit, as it should be. Silver tells me that, "Truth be told, you're not very good." And then he runs away crying. I return to the Pokémon Center and heal up again, for the trek to come could be long and arduous, but probably not...

I put Dudette in the lead, because, well, frankly, she's my only chance against Whitney. Inside, I encounter and capture a Metapod. JUST what I needed. :| Named him Metaknight.

And now some moron has lost his Farfetch'd. That story is just a little bit... out there. Oh, look, a Revive. :| Anyways, I quickly formulate a strategy that's based partly on trial and error, and send that little bugger off to his master. His real master, too, not the apprentice who can't seem to keep a hold on his own Pokémon. Jeeze, kid, you shouldn't be trying to handle animals if you can't do it. Anyways, the Cut Master is so happy thanks to my help, he gives me HM01 - Cut, which I will make prompt use of shortly. I teach it to Lugosi, who forgets Wrap.

Soon after, I find some weirdo just hanging around running headfirst into trees. He gives me the TM for Headbutt. Not sure if I should use it just yet, so I save it. Before long, I also run into some Bug Catcher-type. Apparently, I startled him, and he challenges me to a battle. Or so he thinks. It's more like a massacre. Dudette OHKOs both of his Pokémon, and the experience bar stops just short of a level-up. Apparently, this guy hasn't seen a Geodude before. Where's he been living? Not under a rock?

I defeat my next wild Pokémon, and Dudette gets the level-up. Exiting the forest, a nice lady gives me the TM for Sweet Scent. Not particularly useful, but a kind gesture. Outside, I'm challenged by a kid who uses two rodents and two Spearow. And of course the first wild Pokémon I find on this route is an Abra, which promptly Teleports away. Le sigh.

I'm challenged again, by a guy with a Mankey and a Diglett. I use Sperry for this battle, and he levels up to level 15. Woo. I go on to battle a girl who, unfortunately for her, uses grass-types. Baller mops up the court, and hits level 17. Next, I battle a fat guy in a weird outfit... He uses a single Snubbull, no problem at all. I run around in the grass for a bit, and find a wild Snubbull (sigh). With this, Baller hits level 18. Next up is a Camper using a Psyduck, which is no challenge at all for Lugosi. Lugosi hits level 15 after running around in the grass for a bit.

I find a house, break in, and am surprised to find an old couple who are perfectly welcoming. One of them offers me an egg, which I gladly accept. Van goes in the PC, at least for now.

I reach Goldenrod City, and heal up at the Pokémon Center. In the city, I find a guy who gives me a free bike in exchange for ad space. I begin to ride this bike for a long, long time. Like, seriously. The bike shop owner calls me to tell me I can keep the bike long before the egg hatches. My legs have been tempered into Skyforged steel by the time the egg hatches, into... Magby. :| Couldn't have been a nice electric-type that Crystal is so lacking in, huh? Well, Van, you're in luck.
