What could this flashback mean?

Well, if Korra is the reincarnation of the previous Avatar, doesn't mean she's kinda able to witness the past events in forms of flashbacks?

@Ghetsis-Dennis; Personally I think it means Amon is that Yukone guy mentioned earlier in the episode. Or has some relation to him.

I think that the events that took place 42 years ago with "Yakone" are important the present situation, in a similar fashion to Avatar Roku and his flashbacks with Sozin and how it explained the Fire Nation's goals and origins of conquest. Whoever that Yakone guy was, I agree that he could have something to do with Amon, though Tenzin says that the situation is different.

It was amazing seeing some of the old Gaang grown up, they aged quite well, can't wait to eventually see Suki/Katara/Zuko and what they looked like.
