Met some Lords, ate some chicken.

After my normal Drama lesson this morning (in which we covered very raw and interesting practicals of Stanislavskian techniques), I went to meet two Lords! We had a trip to the Houses of Parliament and, after a tour of the House of Commons and sitting in on a debate in the House of Lords, we had a Q&A session with Lord Tyler and Lord Deben. I was shaking, but I fought my nerves and asked them how they felt about the fact that although women are still a minority in government, decisions upon issues relating to female-exclusive health concerns are made there (and asked whether they felt that could create or allow for legitimate representation of interests) which led to an interesting discussion with them both for about twenty minutes about representation of women at every level in England. My teacher was quite impressed.

After this, I rushed back to college to leave for the theatre to see a play called Woyzeck. My classmates couldn't really understand it, but it quite discomforted me. It was very well played.

Then I got the tube home with friends and fourteen chicken nuggets in my usually tiny tummy, no lie.

Aaaaaahhh. I am gonna sleep so well tonight.

Sounds like an awesome time, that's really cool that you got to meet some of the Lords, and hold a discussion with them at that.

@Ebail; I knowwww, you did say so. But still. I did! It was nerve-wracking but exciting and I'm glad I went.
@Sunburn; Yes, I was very aware of the fact that I got a very rare opportunity for a plain ol' member of the public, which is why I just had to bite the bullet in the end. I'd advise a trip to Parliament to anybody who ever gets the chance, really.

Well, I live in the US, so... :P I was in England for a short time this Summer (Liverpool for 2 days) but I would have loved to visit Parliament :) I'm glad you pushed through and talked with them, it should be a very memorable experience years down the road.

@Sunburn; I can imagine. It's a shame you couldn't, it's a pain to do unless you go with an educational institution you attend, or so I've heard. S-so am I. >3< I feel like chances like this can enrich your life when taken, so I try to make the most of them whenever I can gather the nerve.

SWEEEET! I'm American, and I've met a bunch of US Congresspeople and visited their office buildings on various trips to DC, but I'm still awestruck by the UK government.

(DC and London are two of my favorite cities ever!)

I should google search on [I]Woyzeck[/I]. Were those chicken nuggets from a fast food restaurant or a regular restaurant?

@UnovaCastaway; Ah, awesome! The UK government isn't that great, really. :P
@Ghetsis-Dennis; You should! It's a pretty interesting play and the ending is adapted in a variety of ways because the writer died before finishing it. The chicken was from McDonalds. :P I hate most of their food, but I'm a sucker for their ice cream/milkshakes, chicken nuggets and sausage and egg McMuffins. >w<"
