By which I mean, I trimmed it myself, then proceeded to take my chances with a "pillarbox red" dye I have heard good things about, not really expecting it to make a dent in my dark hair.

It did. Quite a nice one, actually. In fact I am actually pretty excitedly happy with it now I am used to it.

Seems red was a good choice, yo. Thank you to those who gave input before. x)

Wow, so you did it all yourself? It looks fantastic! I've rarely seen diy haircuts/colours look so good. :)

Well, I did have my sister's assistance actually applying the dye thoroughly, so I guess that was a big help. That and taking the risk and leaving it on longer than the box stated so I could get a more intense colour. But thank you! If you have a simple hair style and think about where the hair you're cutting is going to sit on your head and what dyes will do what to your present colour (think colour wheels and so on), DIY trims and colouring are a cinch. :) it's getting the colour to last that is an issue. :P
