  1. Surviving so far.

    by , 7th November 2013 at 12:22 PM
School has been harder than I expected this year, but I've been trying to throw myself into it and my grades for Literature especially have been really good, so I'm cautiously optimistic for my university applications. We've been in the middle of the regular assessments but I seem to've done alright with academics and student ambassador work so far because I was invited to be on the Student Council! The first meeting was today and we got started on who wanted to run for which positions, so I put ...
  2. Caught my first ever shiny today.

Save for that red Gyarados, anyway. HOW MOMENTOUS, YOU MIGHT SAY! My first shiny since they were introduced! Years of desperately hoping for a natural encounter with my first since they were introduced, over!

Except it's a Drowzee. One of the Pokémon I hate most.

    Must just be my luck.

    OH WELL.

Since we've never done any distances like this and we both have asthma and don't cope well with heat, we only took on the 5k challenge ...

  4. I'm done!

    by , 23rd May 2013 at 07:00 AM
Finally, after 10,000 words of coursework pieces, three written essay-based exams, countless mock exams and two marked performances this academic year is pretty much done for me. I still have to go in for a few weeks in June to prepare my university applications, make a start on the second stage of these qualifications and do some research for my extended project, but technically my core academics are done until September.

Maybe I'll finally get a good night's sleep now! Fingers crossed ...
  5. My first public performance!

    by , 9th May 2013 at 02:28 PM
I just got home from my Drama exam. We performed a play each in two groups of seven. My group went first performing Dennis Potter's Blue Remembered Hills and we were terrified of this because not only did we have the examiner watching and marking and filming but we also had an audience of a couple hundred people (family, other students, a couple of school governors etc) and our piece had been horrible most of the time including the last dress rehearsal because half of us hadn't been in half the ...
