FUCK GEN V

Yeah, I said it. At first I was all depressed about the magic of Gen V being over already, because it was really the first Gen in which I was properly involved with the only Pokémon community I'd really known, and had a group of fellow fans to get hyped up about it with. But now that X & Y have been announced, I don't even care, I just want Gen VI right the Hell now. Opinions so far:

  1. The Starters: They're soooooo cute, especially Fennekin; I just want to huggle one to death! I still like Froakie the most however, I think, though Chespin's pretty cool too. At first I was all like "wtf does GF think it's trying to pull", but I came round within like 10 mins tops. 'Course, we haven't seen the evos yet, so this opinion is subject to change, but I get the feeling that their evos will be good all-round, especially Froakie & Fennekin.

On another note, I'm really glad they decided to try out the Dark/Psychic/Fighting triangle, even if it is only secondary. They're just all amazing, and I think everyone seems to at least agree that they're the best we've had in a while, even if they only like two out of three.

  2. The Legends: Brill. I like X-Deer's design the best, and I personally can't wait 'til Z-Snake & Pokémon W are revealed, which I'm sure they will be. I like how they seem to have taken an old, recurring theme that's been around since the franchise's inception (genetics) and given it a fresh spin, whilst bringing it to the forefront. It feels like the perfect homage to the history of the franchise, whilst at the same time paving the way for an even brighter future.

  3. The Graphics: My jaw literally dropped when I saw the trailer gameplay. It looked like the console version in a handheld. I've heard some people complain about the framerate and resolution, but I honestly didn't notice tbh, and I'm sure any minor quirks that do appear will be fixed either by release or by the time the sequel/third version comes out.

  4. Misc.: Something that did kind of bother me was the fact that the male protag. looked a lot like Nate, who looked quite similar to Black "Hilbert" (I will never get used to that, even generations after the fact). I think it's time they gave the protagonists' appearances a bit of a shake-up. I mean, I know they gave the girl blonde hair, but that's not really a big deal. Tbh, I was hoping by now we'd have character customisation (at least for skin, hair & eye colour), but meh, something to keep in mind for later Gens I guess.

But yeah, apart from that minor minus point, I'm super stoked for Gen VI, and can't wait for it to be released (even if it means buying a 3DS T.T).

Also, for anyone who actually cares, regarding those old nuzblogs I used to do ...

I love all three starters. Right now, I think I'm going to go with Fennekin, but I'm not sure.

I'm so glad we won't have to see more of Team Plasma becoming a mere shadow of itself.

The legends are epic indeed, but chespin seems a bit bland to the others in my tastes but it's still cool.

I love all of the starters, too. They aren't too simple like Snivy, Tepig, and Oshawott. My favorite of the three is Chespin.

Where did you read that the starters were a 'Dark/Psychic/Fighting triangle', is this just speculation? If not can I see where you got your information from?

And ummmm also is the whole "Z-Snake & Pokémon W" just speculation or is it legit?

I haven't got that far through White 2 yet, so I couldn't say--only just got my third badge!

Also, I had even thought about the Villains; I can't even imagine what they'll be like (though I've heard rumours of another fusion plot à la BW2, because of th XY thing). I'm sure they'll be evilly awesome though <3

    Pretty sure that's just speculation.

In theory, a hypothetical Pokémon Z would be represented by a serpentine dragon or snake, as the X legendary and the Y legendary both correspond to two of the three major inhabitants of Yggdrasil, the world tree of Norse mythology. The two are a stag and an eagle. The third is a serpent.

Alternatively, the book of Job describes the great beasts of land, air, and sea. Pokemon X could correspond with Behemoth, the beast of land, Pokemon Y could correspond with Ziz, the beast of the air, while a serpentine Z could correspond with Leviathan, the beast of the sea.

Well, we HAVE already had a land/sea/sky theme in Gen 3.

    But that could fit too.
