Nobody on the internet has an actual personality. It's just passive-aggressiveness everywhere. You're either a complete asshole who spams 4chan macros or a super friendly guy who hates all criticism. Two extremes with almost nobody in the middle of them.

If all you do is harass others, it's amazing if you even have any friends because you are terrible. if you actively avoid being negative all the time, you're a sycophantic enabler who's of no help. You don't do or say something for the sake of offending/not offending people. You do them because you want to share your thoughts and opinions

The internet has just completely lost sight of what constructive criticism is. For a place filled with hipster snowflakes who hate popular things, they sure do hate unpopular opinions. A dissenting opinion isn't the same thing as an attack. It's just an excuse to create a hive mind and erase any actual individuality.

That's all i have to say. I'd say more, but it's 4 AM where I am and the log in screen is apparently threatening to eat my post if I type too much. Enjoy your day. I honestly mean that.

    I wouldn't say that's entirely true at all. Do you fit within one of these two extremes then? Does everyone on this forum also fit within them? I wouldn't say so at all.
    Bill Cipher and Karamazov like this.

    It's not true XDD Because almost everybody uses the Internet, and if all people on the Internet were either one of those, then this world is pretty much doomed XDD

    I think that's untrue. There are many many people on the internet with different personalities. I have not met many people that fit into the things you just described.

    You do have a point regarding constructive criticism. Not many people seem capable of hearing something like that, even if it is meant to be genuinely helpful.
    In terms of common personalities on the Internet... I tend to see different ones myself. Whether people want to acknowledge it or not, not everyone on the Internet is unique. I think the vast majority could be sorted under one of a handful of categories. I'd state what I find those to be, but... I think it'd just be taken the wrong way.

    Is it so hard to post something without people judging it based on the first two lines? All I want is for someone to read and give their own feedback. But no. Go "NO U" at the first paragraph and ignore the rest. That's like that asshole commenter on Youtube who posts before they've even finished watching the video.

    I made that point about criticism because I'm absolutely sick of seeing people getting ignored or yelled just because they don't conform to majority opinion. The internet isn't a hugbox for making you feel better about yourself. These are public sites made for everyone's use. Everyone is allowed to have an opinion, and as long as they aren't complete assholes about, there's no reason anyone should be silenced for it. It's disgusting if you decide to make a community with the sole purpose of rejecting anyone who doesn't agree with you.

    At least I know one person read the second half. Thank you.

    Ah... the majority opinion. I've had a few negative brushes with it in life, but even then, I won't agree with it unless I honestly think it has some validity. Couldn't care less who else holds the same view myself.
    But back on the subject... sadly, there isn't much that can be done with how people take what they hear. You get used to people generally not wanting to hear that stuff, even if it continues to annoy you to no end. That is the sad truth of the matter.
    And I'm the type who likes hearing other points of view. It helps me feel more informed about my own opinions in a debate, as I know what the other side thinks as well. So yes... reading a full blog like this is second nature to me. =w=;
