Looker Sidequest

CAN WE TALK ABOUT THAT DAMN SIDEQUEST, PLEASE?

I legitimately cried. As in, I had to stop near the ending to get some tissues and the sounds I made...

I'm done. I'm so done, oh my god, I have been emotionally abused beyond repair.

Well, in all honesty, the last part did say Emma and Mimi's story just began, while us Calem's/Serena's ended. So...................I bet my shiny Unown that they will.

That side quest was beautiful, it really was. I was actually surprised more than with the main storyline. It was really well done, Looker, Emma, Essentia, Mimi, Xerosic.

It makes me wonder how this will make it into the anime, that would also be simply amazing.

I know, right? I need more of this in my life!!!!

This sidequest alone was, in my opinion, better than the whole Team Flare plot (AZ and the 3000 year old war were the only things that truly captivated me about that.)

I started playing it just before I was supposed to go to bed. I did not sleep that night. I got so hooked.

I need more Poke-noir!!!! I need more of the Looker bureau.

And the best part? Lumiose City has their own Super hero. :D

SOMEONE!!! QUICK!!!!! MAKE AN OFFICIAL COMIC BOOK SERIES!!!!!

It was a very well-done side quest. At first I just wanted to get it out of the way, but they were able to make something different out of it. I think it made us feel more part of the world and gave it a sense of reality, as well as a different perspective apart from just battling.

Stopped watching the anime, but I would be interested in seeing this animated.

I think my favorite thing about the sidequest was the tone. The game turned into a legit noir when the Looker sidequest started. It was so different from what I've come to expect from a Pokemon game. And it was soooo refreshing. The main storyline is just more of the same. Evil team blah blah blah harness the power of box legend blah blah blah take over the world/destroy the world blah blah blah. Been there, done that. This, though, this was new and exciting and interesting and refreshing.

Also refreshing? This story made Lumiose city come alive. At first, I felt meh about the city. Sure, it was big, but eh, there wasn't much that I cared about. Then, when Looker showed up, I found myself navigating the city streets and back alleys. Not only did I learn how to get around in Lumiose (and that there's a crap-ton of stuff to do,) I felt like a real resident of the city. Lumiose is now my favorite city in all of Pokemon. Step aside Castelia.

And of course, Looker and Emma. Guys, I can't. I can't even. So. Many. Feels!!! I can't even....

(Sorry to gush, but I really loved this story.)

I loved it more than the main story (though I do wish it had more Lysandre), honestly, and I teared up in a manly fashion at the ending as well. Am I the only one who would love a full game in this style, where instead of badge hunting you play as Looker's assistant through a series of big-time, increasingly serious missions, training Pokemon as you battle the criminals? Imagine an actual full length game with the atmosphere and character development of the Looker quests... it could actually be a Pokemon game where the story was the best part instead of just an afterthought. I'm hopeful that, if the Chapters in X/Y's postgame are positively received, such a game might be considered... it seems they were experimenting with a new format, after all, it only goes to reason that they'd consider using it again. At least, I hope so.

Ooooo, that would sound perfect-ish. A game where we get to work for the International Police. :D Kinda like a Pokemon Ranger-ish mixed with the mainstream Pokemon game with a real danger to the organization as we work as rookie officers. Does that sound about right?

All I hope is that Emma and Looker meet again. IT CAN'T END LIKE THIS!!!!! That was a beautiful addition to the normal cycle of Pokemon games.

Yes, we do need to talk about this, yes. I beat the side quest a while back and couldn't talk about it with anyone because if spoilers and ugh. YES. FEELS. I had an overwhelming urge to write fan fiction about it and I have! I found a way to incorporate them into my current fic and OH MY GOD. Well back to the quest. It was SO GOOD. I felt like I was in one of those old detective movies; it was really awesome.

I just want to say that even though Looker was usually seen as comic relief, this post plot delved into his hidden characteristics and I loved that. He becomes a freaking surrogate father to her, ugh I can't stand the amount of feels that were felt in a feely sort of way. I only found one minor plot hole too! He was all like oh shit this injury is more serious then I thought. NEXT DAY: Yeah, I'm fine. I lied about the hospital. (But then why did he say it was more serious then he thought??)

Ugh, needed more angst. But it did have a lot of angst for Pokemon, got to give it that. Ugh feels. So. Many. Feels.

Pokemon really did great with this! Also, RIP Croagunk.

@Miles101; Ahh I wish I could show the Looker and Emma part, but it would spoil the earlier chapters of it (which I have yet to write, though I have finished a good amount of the later chapies ^u^ I can send a link! *It's Pokemon Special so I dunno if you like that*

Upon the 25th Battle Chapter 1: Meetings Upon Meetings, a pokémon fanfic | FanFiction It only has about 6 chapters so Looker appears very little. I plan to update soon? Maybe? I dunno the next chapter involves a lot of battling and it's hard to get inspiration with that.

(I'm actually writing Croagunk's death scene and it's really sad, ugh. I just finished another character's death scene too. Hm. So much emotion ugh.)
