And the only "New" Pokemon are the Starters and Legendaries.

The other 50-some New Pokemon are Baby Pokemon, Evolutions of Old Pokemon, and Split Evolutions of Old Pokemon. It ends up being an "expansion" Gen even more so than Gen IV was.

GameFreak, however, also uses this to "fix" stuff around...changing cross-Gen evolutions to simple level-ups where applicable (unless the special evolution method was important to the theme, like the Metal Coat, but then making it a hold while leveling as opposed to trading), removing the use of Incense, and rearranging the National Dex so that Pokemon are lined up with their families.

I thought about this the other day...it'd be something I can see myself disliking, but on the other hand it'd be pretty interesting to see a whole bunch of Old Pokemon expanded upon, and, well, I generally liked the Gen IV Baby/Evolutions they introduced.

If you mean like DP? I think that would be lukewarm. I disliked DP's low Pokemon count and that really hindered it for me. I mean how many Fire-types and Water-types got introduced that didn't require special means to evolve or weren't legendary? Just Chimchar, Buizel, Finneon, and Shellos?
