It's debuting on Toonami tonight.
I don't go out of my way to watch Anime, but I usually leave Toonami on as background noise during night when I'm on my computer watching FREE!, so, is it good? I don't actually watch FREE!
You'll find people who love it and people who hate it.
Personally, I dropped it at episode 8. Wasted potential after a great first episode.
Sword Art Online is absolutely terrible an anime. Have fun with your terrible teen romance fap disguised as an action anime.
I loved it, but I also love the light novels as well. I have never seen .hack, but some say that there are similarities. The anime is based on a light novel series that had the first part originally written in 2002, but then has continued on in more recent days. The author also wrote the Accel World series of light novels.
Give it a chance. As Xita said, people tend to love it or hate it. I love it. Here's a link to the subbed episodes on Crunchyroll, if you wish to watch it online legally (depending on where in the world you reside).
For all the shit the anime got, I loved it. One of the big problems was with how the different stories were just thrown in and not connected very well.
And I really liked the second arc - the stakes weren't as high, but it focused a lot more focus on the characters and their relationships, a lot less forced romance, and it becomes less and less cliche overall.
Madoka soundtrack composer Yuki Kajiura with this one. Just sayin.
