It's Febuary 6th according to the games.

In Japan, they write the Day then Month I believe, thus it'd be 6/2.

Is this supposed to be a pun, an example of "Goroawase", a form of Japanese wordplay where homophonous words are associated with numbers?

Like, couldn't 6/2 be read in Japanese as "MuTsuu"? You know, the closest way to render Mewtwo's Japanese name using numbers?

I'm not an expert or anything on this, but I wonder if this was intentional since I know quite a few Japanese series do stuff like this (like I believe quite a few One Piece character's have birthdays where the date forms a pun).

Tomorrow would be a good day to confirm Mewtwo for Smash Bros 4 then.

Pretty intersting, hadn't realize it. It's not rare for them to do this kind of stuff so I bet you're right.
