Tokusatsu I've Watched Recently...

Rate this Entry
Been getting into Toku (Japanese Special Effects shows such as Godzilla, Super Sentai, Kamen Rider), here's what I've watched so far:

Kamen Rider Fourze
Kamen Rider W
Kamen Rider OOO
Kamen Rider Kiva
Kamen Rider Den-O
Kamen Rider Kabuto
Kamen Rider Ryuki

And I'm currently watching Kamen Rider Blade, plus I decided to pick up a Super Sentai show alongside it for a little break from Kamen Rider here and there, Gosei Sentai Dairanger. It's the "Chinese Martial Arts" Super Sentai, and came right after Zyuranger...the show that became the first season of Power Rangers. The Zords and villains from the show made it to Power Rangers, but none of the actual Ranger Suits did bar the "Kiba Ranger" becoming the White Ranger.

Blade's first 10 or so episodes drag on a bit. The series doesn't really pick up speed until Leangle is fully introduced. The series gets really good at the end, one of the best if not the best Rider series IMO. I'm assuming you're not that far in at the moment.

Dairanger is one of the best 90s Sentai series, but it feels like a Star Wars knockoff at points. Power Rangers shouldn't really be used to judge Sentai quality. Samurai was the worst PR season while Shinkenger was one of the best Sentai. I recommend Dekaranger and Magiranger if you want something in-line with modern day Sentai.

    27.

And yeah, I felt the series was really slow and meandering till all 4 Riders more or less got on the same level, and then things picked up.
