High School Student Jumped Off The Roof...

Sometime around my lunch period, there was some guy on the roof of our health science building. I wasn't really there myself to see him fall, but I saw his body already dead on the concrete after he fell.

There're tons of crazy rumors about why he jumped. Some people told me that he just got up there to relax after being dumped by his girl. Others told me that she texted him to just die and to get out of her life already. But the most common one is the one where he did that without her text and all because of pure free will, still relating to the break-up. Whatever the reason was, I sympathize with him.

I don't usually post blogs on the students in my school who kill themselves, since they don't actually relate to me (none of the 7 suicides last year did). But this one's a special case, since I can relate somewhat. Well, se ya later, David.

    Urghh... I got the worst feeling when I read the word "dead".

    The least these depressed high school kids should do is wait 'till they're out of high school. There's more to life than being a teenager.

    a suicide happened a few weeks ago at my high school too. some girl shot herself, i never found out why though.

    Like not trying to cause any offence or do ahy shit stirring, since this is a serious question.

    Why is it in America, this stuff is erm the only way I can put it is tolerable and accepted? Over here if even one suicide happened in a school, firstly the whole school would face massive criticsm, get inspected, get lots of stick. And the fact that seven suicides have happened there, a school in the UK would be closed down quicker then you could say suicide if it got eve past two suicides.

    Because obviously saying that every school in America tolerates sucide is a massive generalization and is wrong, but lots do, quite more than UK. I just want to know why? Is it cos schools work differently there, or too many population to care about or something?

    I think it has a lot to do with kids not realizing that there's more to life than what is happening at that moment. They get all depressed because their girlfriend dumped them or something, and then in true teenager fashoin, they fail to realize that it isn't the end of the world, that it is possible to move on, especially over something as (in retrospect & IMO) trivial as high school romances. It may not be the best word, but the word that describes it most accurately is ignorance. And as you know, we Americans are experts at being ignorant. :P
