That's what I'm thinking right now. I bought SoulSilver yesterday and now I struggle with choosing Pokémon for my team! Yes I know, I've the smallest problems ever... But it's a big problem for me! There's a lot of cool Pokémon, which I haven't ever tried to use, but making decisions have never been my thing. Anyway, I picked Chikorita as my starter (and spent ages with soft reseting a girl one, I had an extremely bad luck). Geez, I couldn't even imagine how tough Falkner could be with Chikorita. His Pidgeotto's Gust did already a lot of damage, but his Roost was just inhuman. Actually I had troubles with him in HeartGold too (damn critical hit hax :D), where I picked Totodile and already had Onix with me.

So, I've Chikorita and I'll catch Misdreavus as soon as I can, but what else? I also traded Shiny Teddiursa from my Diamond, but it just doesn't fit there :|. I don't know what's wrong with me. If I don't feel that Pokémon fits in my team, I just can't use it. No matter how much I probably like that Pokémon. Weird. Any suggestions? Preferably Kanto/Johto Pokémon only :3.

    You should have gotten a Geodude from that side path on the way to Falkner's gym. That've made his gym cake, and then you can just box it and walk away. xD

    Also Walk around the close section of Dark Cave until a Dunsparce appears. Totally worth it.

    ^ Haha, I didn't even realize getting Geodude could help a lot, that's a good idea. Gladly I got a critical hit and managed to defeat those damn birds already 8).

    I knew someone would suggest Dunsparce! Maybe, maybe...

    Trust me, you'll be much happier if you don't focus too much on planning a team. As you play, I think that you should just pick Pokemon that feel right at the time.

    I used a dunsparce. Glare + serene grace headbutt is awesome to use.

    You might need a fighting type for Whitney. I traded Combusken at that point. Just in case you [i]might[/i] want to use the pokemon I did, I used Feraligatr, Kangaskhan(pokewalker), Blaziken, Tropius, and Ho-Oh. My sixth member depends on who the most recently trained new pokemon is.

    I personally couldn't bring myself to trade anything over to mine that isn't naturally catchable in those games. It's just that part of me that is astounded that you'd put a Blaziken on yours pre-elite 4, Zorua.

    Well it's not cheating, or anything. Plus, it was a Level 18 Combusken at first, and also, you can trade pokemon over from DPPt from the start, so the game is shouting out for you to trade pokemon.

    Thanks guys! I possibly just should get over my stupid habit about thinking too much, maybe I could enjoy more then. But I just a nice team, which I could enjoy a lot.

    Tropius could be an interesting choice :3.

    I traded for the Machop in that house in Goldenrod City if that helps.
