So I've finally defeated Red. I lost to him before on SoulSilver when I went to battle him and his Pokémon were too high of a level for me, and then I transferred the Pokémon from that game to Black, but I have recently restarted HeartGold and defeated Red with a brand new team! Of course, there is my starter, then I caught a Hoothoot, then a Heracross, and a Sudowoodo, I realised that Slugma was a really boring Pokémon, so I quickly restarted Platinum and transferred Chimchar to myself, and I got an Eevee.

In order, they are: Anghenfil, Tair, Cythraul, Arwystl, Aquagenic, and Llacharedd.

And now, they are all some of my favourite Pokémon, when I previously disliked all of them.

Do you have some kind of strategy for naming your Pokémon? Those names are amazing.
I thought naming my Whimsicott "Sheepins" was cool, though.

What a unique choice of names. What do they mean?

Anghenfil, Tair, Cythraul, Arwystl, and Llacharedd are Welsh. Anghenfil means Monster, because that's what Feraligatr looks like to me; something that would be a villainous monster in a children's story. Tair is Three, becauase the Chimchar line reminds me of the Three Wise Monkeys. Cythraul is Demon, because Espeon resembles a demon cat (and is based on the Nekomata, according to Bulbapedia). Arwystl means Charge, and Llacharedd means Glare.

Aquagenic comes from Aquagenic Urticaria, which is a skin condition in which water can cause rashes or irritation, which pretty much describes Sudowoodo's relationship to water. It only moves once you water it, and the Pokédex says that it runs away from rain.

I try to stick to one theme per game. Started nicknaming with Black 2, and my team there was named using the same method, but with Latin words. I'm glad to see that they are somewhat good names; thank you!

That is so cool! I have also just started nicknaming. I don't know Welsh, but I named my Seismotoad "Cwrth" because it's a quirky word and it has relationship to sound.

I don't know Welsh either (hopefully someday I will), but Google Translate is sufficient for now when it comes to translating just one word.

I'm not Welsh, though... I just give Welsh nicknames to my Pokémon... Sorry if I mislead you.
