Zagreus was a Greek god who is often (perhaps rightly) confused with Dionysus, but was the son of Zeus and Persephone, rather than Semele. Zeus was disguised as a serpent when he ravished Persephone. When Hera found out about the dalliance and child, Zeus put Zagreus into the care of Apollo and the Curetes. This didn't stop Hera for long. When she found where Zagreus was hiding, he changed himself into a bull, but the Titans whom Hera had sent out after him, found him and tore him to pieces. Athena and Apollo were able to rescue Zagreus' heart, which allowed for his regeneration.
One story of Dionysus has Zagreus destroyed as a toddler by the Titans. Athena brought Zeus the heart. Zeus used it to impregnate Semele who then gestated Dionysus.
