Part 2 of my Pokemon doujinshi collection. :V
MY STANCE ON SCANNING
I absolutely will not scan any of these doujinshi in their entirety. These artists put so much time and effort into these books, for zero to negative profit, and I refuse to take advantage of their hard work in such a way. I will immediately turn down and laugh at any requests to scan any of these books in their entirety.
However, I will consider filling requests to scan a single panel, or even one or two pages, for sampling purposes. I would prefer that such scans not be used for avatars, banners, or other such graphics, but then again that is a bit hypocritical of me, since my own avatar is a doujinshi scan. So whatever.
Strawberry Portable Rock
Circle/artist: Strawberry Popp. / sato
Particulars: B5 / Offset / 34 pages
Summary: I don't know how sato-san comes up with these titles. They're all "Strawberry [something beginning with P]," that much is obvious, but...?
This is probably my favorite of sato-san's books, because it's actually quite clever and derives its humor from subverted cliches for once.
Bunny Bunny Bunny!
Circle/artist: Hanakase Honpo / Kurohagi Ryo; Mojako
Particulars: B5 / Offset / 26 pages
Summary: Kurohagi-san, as I mentioned above, is a Twitter friend of mine, and pretty much the only person who ever produces anything that is Silver/Gold. On top of that, her art style is adorable, and she has the talent to take cliche and/or rotten joke material that I'd normally hate and spin it into something that I actually genuinely enjoy.
This book is a prime example of that fact. Silver finds a pair of bunny ears on the ground and decides that Gold would look good in them. (For the record, Kurohagi-san's Silver is a troll and a pervert, a characterization that I would normally have serious issues with but as I've already explained, she somehow makes it incredibly amusing.) Gold refuses to put them on, but Silver tricks him into doing so; the instant that the ears are slipped on, Gold transforms into a bunny girl. Needless to say, Gold is none too happy about the predicament, so Silver calls up Blue and Crystal for help. After the situation is explained to them, they all try to think of a solution, and Crystal suggests that in the meantime Gold can change into something more comfortable. (Silver objects, resulting in getting stabbed with a billiard cue.) Gold, however, finds that (s)he can't remove the clothing, which seems to be physically attached to his/her body. Gold keeps tugging at his chest to remove the clothes, and Silver thinks this is no fair, he wants to touch Gold's boobs too - so he does. Gold suddenly turns back to his normal self (apparently having the person you love touch your chest is the key to turning back) and the girls note that there was really no reason for them to be there - but Blue doesn't mind, she got to see something funny.
Following the main story is a three-page manga by Mojako which I quite honestly don't understand at all, but whatev.
Afro wa Soredemo Kawari wa shinai
Even So, The Afro Doesn't Change
Circle/artist: DraA / NakamuraPP (yunta); Motecurl Nishino; One-Length Shimada (Q); Tenpa-papa (Asu); Eloganese Bob Michiko (GAZI); Takashimada (Eka)
Particulars: B5 / Offset / 32 pages
Summary: Apparently the organizer yunta made a joke that everyone should contribute to the book using hair-related pennames. And then that's what they all did.
This is a Flint uke book, which for the uninitiated means "Flint bottoms to everyone." Pairings include Volkner/Flint, Lucian/Flint, Cynthia/Flint, Aaron/Flint, Roark/Flint, Buck/Flint, and Proprietor/Flint.
So basically it's a bunch of short manga with everyone taking their turn at getting a piece of Flint.
Particulars: A5 / Offset / 50 pages
Summary: I have always had serious issues with kan-san's Daiharu stuff. Namely, May is super loli and it's just disturbing. (I think it was MAGNEDETH who said it best: "That's no loli, that's a baby.")
But I need (that's right, NEED) all the Daiharu doujinshi that I can get my hands on, so I bought this anyway.
May and Steven have plans to go on a date to a cafe and then to a movie. May stays up late the night before deciding what to wear, and decides on a dress that she chose specifically for the occasion. During their date, Steven notices that May doesn't seem to be feeling well, and discovers that she has a fever. He insists on calling off their date and has her lay down in a Pokemon Center to get better. May is depressed that they had to end their date, so Steven decides that they'll have their date inside as May rests. He buys some cake for them to share, and they read some books together. At the end of the day, May is feeling better so they continue their date by renting a movie to watch a Steven's house. YAY.
Circle/artist: Sorairo Crayon / Amamiya Shizuku
Pairings/characters: Steven/May; Volkner/Lucas; Green/Red
Particulars: A5 / Offset / 20 pages
Summary: I bought this for the Daiharu.
Though actually, I don't quite understand the setting of this one. It seems to have Steven, May, Volkner, and Lucas from the games, and Green and Red from Special, and they're all living together. Yeah idk.
So basically, it's hot out and when Steven and May were out shopping they bought a bunch of pool stuff on a whim so that everyone could have fun and play together.
The story shifted to Volkner/Lucas and Green/Red after that and I lost interest. \o/
Circle/artist: ELK / Katsuki
Particulars: B5 / Offset / 22 pages
Summary: I got this for the sheer novelty of it, but it actually ended up being quite adorable.
Misty and Lyra's meeting was the same as canon, so they both had a bad first impression of each other. After that, Lyra frequently comes to Misty's gym to battle him, but Misty always wins. During one visit, Lyra sees Misty with a beautiful lady, and comes to the conclusion that she must be his lover. After that, she doesn't come by for a while; when she does, she happens to see the lady hugging Misty, so Lyra runs off crying. Erika and Sabrina (both male) find her and comfort her, telling her that she doesn't need to be more grown-up to compete for Misty's attention, she's fine the way she is. Misty appears and drags Lyra off (after Erika and Sabrina threaten to kill him if he makes Lyra cry again). Lyra confesses to him, even though she thinks she's too childish for his tastes, and Misty responds by kissing her on the forehead and explaining that the lady Lyra saw was his older sister. Misty admits that he likes Lyra too, so he won't treat her like a child anymore.
Circle/artist: ame / Asu
Particulars: B5 / Offset / 18 pages
Summary: I think most people who speak to me on at least a semi-regular basis will know that my favorite BW pairing is N/Cheren. It's somewhat obscure (since, you know, they barely even interact in the games), so of course I absolutely need any and every doujinshi for them that I can get my hands on. :V iirc there are three N/Cheren doujinshi in existence (the first one, titled Nightmare, has eluded me thus far), plus an anthology that went to the printers very recently.
Not the best doujinshi I've ever read but hey, I'll take what I can get.
Circle/artist: Hanakase Honpo / Kurohagi Ryo
Particulars: A5 / Offset / 34 pages
Summary: Kurohagi-san specializes mostly in silly gag manga with a touch of crude humor. This story, however, is pure, wholesome fluff. And it is lovely.
Gold and Silver are pretty much just hanging out when Gold suggests that they go buy some dessert at a nearby convenience store. What Gold wants to buy is a sandwich set; Silver fails to see how this qualifies as a dessert until Gold points out the one orange-and-cream sandwich included in the set. Since orange sandwiches aren't sold separately, Silver suggests that they make it themselves, so they buy the ingredients and do so. They start by making the whipped cream, and Gold puts in more sugar than the recipe calls for because he likes sugar. He runs into various other troubles, such as the bread being too hard to slice and being unable to open the can of oranges, but they both manage to finish their sandwiches and sample each other's work. Silver's sandwiches are neatly made and taste good; Gold's are a bit crude and are too sweet, but Silver notes that he knows he worked hard on them so it's okay.
A few days later, they meet for a date at the park, though they usually have dates in town. Gold shows up late, saying that he slept in, and they set up for their picnic. Silver made orange sandwiches again because Gold liked them, and Gold reveals that he made strawberry sandwiches this time - because red suits Silver (because of his hair). They laugh and have a nice picnic la-di-da YAY.
The guest manga at the end by Mojako is about Gold having turned into a baby and Silver fawns over him and reads him storybooks until the real Gold punches him to make him stop having weird delusions.
Circle/artist: Hanakase Honpo / Kurohagi Ryo
Particulars: A5 / Offset / 42 pages
Summary: Aaaaaaaand we're back to slightly crude gag manga! There are three stories in this book: two by Kurohagi-san, and one by Mojako.
cold hands and feet
Circle/artist: Dogear / Inumimi Moeta
Particulars: B5 / Offset / 36 pages
Summary: HOLY SHIT WAS THIS DOUJINSHI MADE JUST FOR ME? I THINK IT WAS BECAUSE THIS IS LIKE EXACTLY WHAT I WANT IN A N/CHEREN DOUJINSHI. SCARVES AND COLD WEATHER AND HAND-HOLDING AND ICE CREAM AND INTROSPECTION AND FLUFF AND SCARVES HOLY HELL YES.
Basically this doujinshi is amazing. I can't even summarize it in a way that will accurately express how amazing this is.
Pretty much N and Cheren are walking through Castelia City together in early spring, it's cold, they hold hands, they eat Casteliacone, and there is delicious, delicious introspection about N.
I don't know why I never bothered to read this one before tonight, but it just leapt into the top of my very favorite doujinshi list.
Circle/artist: StrawberryPopp. / sato; Natsumeko; Ucchi; Kawaraya
Particulars: A5 / Offset / 52 pages
Summary: sato-san's latest Daiharu book, and I think the first one since the release of BW. This one has a couple short manga by sato-san, a 4-koma by Natsumeko, and a fanfic written by Ucchi and illustrated by Kawaraya.
First of sato-san's manga is called "And Then, It Begins Again." Steven has returned to Hoenn and meets up with May, who is feeling a bit depressed because she was afraid Steven had come to hate her, and also because she's been getting some criticism for turning down the job of League Champion. Steven cheers her up by giving her some souvenirs from the places he visited (a white sphere from Sinnoh, a Ragecandybar from Johto, some Stardust from the beaches of Kanto), and then taking her to the port, where she sees an Oshawott and Gothorita, neither of which she's seen before. Then there's some sappy stuff about May having her own reasons for being a Trainer and Steven loves her just the way she is yes yes sato-san we've seen this all before.
Second one is called "Sunday Television Age." Steven and May are watching some TV together; the show is some sort of raunchy romance between Volkner (?!?) and some random girl. May seems to be getting pretty into it, and Steven asks if she has any interest in doing something like that. May is flustered, Steven suggests they "practice" a bit, he kisses her a little blah blah turns out they were just watching Pokemon together and Steven was just fantasizing.
Haven't bothered to read Ucchi's fic yet, but it looks like it involves a battle with Roxanne who is possibly using a Klinklang? idk
9waki Atsusa no Sei
Due to 90% Humidity
Circle/artist: clunker / Kirino Tsukushi
Particulars: B5 / Offset / 30 pages
Summary: Not sure if that's the best translation of the title; "9waki" basically means "90th percentile," and "atsusa" is "heat" (not "humidity"), but...?
SHIT THAT WAS LONG.
