Part One: Maya
Alright so I decided to start my blog documenting my work on making a level for my class Environmental Design. The design of this level is supposed to be a "Flower/Water" temple located on a island. To create it I did alot of research on churches and temples, drawing research from famous and not so famous places. I then booted up Maya 2011 ( Will not use 2012, and havn't tried out 2013 yet ) and began to build the stain glass windows from the pictures I had collected. I followed that up by adding in the pillars for the second level, and basically created the middle section that will be duplicated over and over again to create the hallway.
With the middle part created I went to work on the opening, starting off with the staircase, and the curved shape of the room. For added effect I brought in a custom made cage from a previous model, to serve as the source of the water ( That trench you see will have water and flowers in it later ). And then created the third stain glass window.
Today I went to work on creating the main atrium. Which started with a large circle, and then pulling the walls and railing from the hallway over it to give it a feel of continuity and to create one long singular pathway when finished. Finally I am currently working on creating the top of the temple which will also have stain glass windows.
Here is the timeline of the project
