Alright we woke up around 5 in the morning, and surprisingly enough we lucked out and avoided having any jet lag what so ever.
We made our way to Ikubekuro around eight and found the place absolutely closed down. So we waited outside of a Sega arcade with tons of girl gamers one of which came over to flirt and was a fan of Arina Tanemura.
We finally got in at ten after exploring around nearly got lost. Inside the Sega Building we played some Super Mario Kart before heading to Super Potato which is a small three story store that focuses solely on old games like Sega, Nintendo, and Super Nintendo. I bought a old Ghostbusters Famicom game there before continuing to K Books which is a packed three story massive store filled with manga goodness. And also packed with girls looking to play the latest card game.
Lets just say if you are a Female Otaku, early morning Ikubekuro is the place to go.
We returned to the hotel room to rest up around one. We finally got out and around Ikiubukuro about a hour later and went to Sunshine City mall and Toys R Us. It was a massive mall but like the subway it lacks any air conditioning at all. After we headed to Animate which to put it plainly is a massive seven story structure and is considered the largest Anime and Manga shop in the world!
So what did I learn?
First there are soda machines and convenience stores like 7/11 everywhere as are Mc Donnalds. It is also easy ordering food as there is usually a layout of everything at the counter and all you have to do is point to it
Second there is a lot of walking, many times the store you want is on the second or third story. Luckily there are elevators but at stores like Animate that means standing in line. Further more everything is crowded I mean really really crowded and condensed.
Also expect ALOT of smoking
Oh and the bread here is amazing a combination of angel food cake softness with a slight honey taste mixed in
Tomorrow: Tokyo Game Show
