Can people just shut up about Ash's age already?

All those Youtube comments on XY anime videos are really annoying. I can see the complaints that Satoshi is the star of the series again or that the Rocket gang still stalk Satoshi and co. (although their attempts to catch Pikachu became somewhat infrequent recently), at least those are legitimate complains, IMO. But comments like "Shouldn't Ash be, like, 27 by now?" just really irritate me.

If those people had a modicum of common sense, they would internalize the fact that Satoshi will stay ten until the anime franchise ends, especially since they know that some characters in a series (animated or live action) stay the same age regardless of what happens in the show they are in. But those people don't.

I'm guessing even in the 2017 or so when the XY anime ends and the Gen VII anime begins, those same people will probably expect/want Ash to be 30. Which is really insane and disturbing.

/mini-rant over.

Bart is ten forever cause Simpson has negative continuity. Pokemon is continuous adventure.

Should we even be paying attention to Youtube comments like those? Not to bash anyone or anything, but I find those comments utterly useless and pointless and a waste of time since 99% of them make no sense - especially regarding Ash's age. Ash should be 27 by now? That's not even worth the attention and replies.

I think it goes without saying that the Youtube portion of any fanbase is guaranteed to contain the silly bunch.

Certainly doesn't friggin' mean he should age in real time.

I mean, seriously, people should have the common sense to realize that time goes by differently in fictional realities than it does in actual reality. Using the logic of the people MizuTaipu is describing in the post, time-skips are also illegitimate. These "sixteen years and he's still ten!!" jokes are honestly getting really dumb, as if the anime's numerical age is directly correlated to Satoshi's age. Yes, he should be older but not that older... Three years is reasonable, but sixteen is just silly.

Ash. Is. 10. He does not age. Yeah, I don't like it, but it can't be helped.

I suppose I wouldn't have as much of a problem with the concept if he at the very least retained some of that Battling experience that earned him his achievements...

given how he acted as a result of the competence resets, would it be any wonder that Paul in the D/P series would be absolutely stunned at discovering that Ash beat Pyramid King Brandon?

Oh, poopoo if people complain about Ash's age. So what if people are concerned about his youth and consequently, the limits (or perceived nonetheless) on his growth or personality? Nevermind sharing some of their sentiments, what's it to me if they wish to complain? Their worries are theirs and mine are mine.

Ash will forever been ten after he saw Ho-Oh....the Powers of that Pokemon made sure that this human was special.

What's interesting is they never mention how Jessie and James haven't aged, even if they were twenty, shouldn't they be over 30? Why hasn't Oak died or aged a day? Or Ash's Mum.. How are May/Dawn/Brock/Misty still the same age?

Not complaining, just find it weird they focus on Ash's age but all the other characters are never mentioned. Shouldn't Pikachu and Meowth be nearing old age by now? Assuming they age the same way as the animal they are based on (If that's true, then Meowth should die in a couple of years... Not sure how long mouse/rats live for.

Not complaining about the other characters makes it clear to me that its not about the numbers or a problem with how anime time works, but the character. Its normal that people want to see Ash improving or at least acting smarter than he does.

I think it's because Ash is the star and the most constant thing in the show, not to mention one of the first things that come to mind when people think of the show. It's only natural they'd want him to grow up alongside him.

But I think aging him up just to force character development is highly stupid., and I feel there really isn't much need to age Ash up by anything more than a year.

Most people on youtube haven't watched the show in years. I don't see why it matters.

They're still going on about how Ash released Charizard, like that makes any difference anymore. lol.

I guess reason why people complain so much about Ash, but other characters too in this show never aging is because influenced by other anime out there which contain time skips or visual progression of character not staying excluded out of time passage wants to see same thing happening in pokemon and its protagonists too.

They want to see Ash aging to better go in correlation with amount of growth he experienced, various buzmps and stages he passed in his life adding fior credible, more believable story which leads somewhere. Siunce it was more than once implied or even stated how months, even years has passed since day one Ash started his journey, though it was never specified how many.
Which i wouldn't mind if it was done in small proportions like having him age by 2 to three years at max along with rest of gang to add extra flavor to anime plot and act as manifestation of all their efforts, progress and various experiences they went through in life leaving impact on them as they grow up creating more faithful environment.
Definitely not what some of this youtubers are proposing expecting him to be fully grown up adult at this point and time which would not only be completely inappropriate for kids based show not being able to relate much with sich type of character, but it would also mess up whole story taking away from its appeal and lightheartedness due to abrupt and contrived change.

Way i see it some of this fans which expect Ash to be in twenties are taking concept of time and its passing way too literally determining Ash and other character age by how much they aged and grew older themselves, failing to understand how real life rules and physics specific for our universe don't transfer to anime and fictional characters which can stay forever young(basically immortal) stuck in loop hole of never growing up. Or in case they do with flow of time and aging going at completely different speed.

You would be surprised, because i see on daily basis many of fans which come from youtuibe regularly complaining about direction in which show has been taken being highly familiar with everything which happened in newer arcs.

Every site has its share of rabid and irrational individuals but contrary to some belief this whiners don't represent whole fabase on youtube contaiuning quite a lot of reasonable, more civil fans as well.
