Recent forum issues

Hi all,

Thanks for bearing with us through the downtime. Load is still higher than we'd like but hopefully everyone's able to use the forums at a reasonable rate.

Right now, simply put, we're just being crushed by traffic from Black and White. We're working with our server providers and technical staff to put solutions together that are better than shutting off the forums at peak hours. We'll keep you posted as soon as we know anything. In the meantime, thanks for supporting Bulbagarden--and enjoy playing Black or White!

Since the forums have its own server that are borrowed from whenever the 'pede needs it, why not cut the 'pede off from this server instead? It's going to have stuff shoved in every oriface anyway even without the one extra server.

It isn't quite that simple. This server doesn't host much of the 'pedia functions but it hosts a few essential ones. The problems are actually running in the other direction--forum load is negatively impacting the essential 'pedia functions on this server, causing problems throughout.

In the medium-term we could move that 'pedia stuff off, but this isn't a problem we've encountered before. Usually it's the 'pedia crashing everything due to load--this time, the forums caught up.
