General thoughts and info from Bulbagarden staff
Some people recently have been saying that the Bulbagarden server must be really weak, for us to have all this downtime recently.
Putting aside the fact that we've recently seen a more than 40% increase in traffic on the whole website following the release of Platinum (in terms of raw hits, so not including traffic from people refreshing and getting errors, or traffic trying to get to us while we were down), I wanted to reassure everyone that we really have a beast of a server here,
1) The problem is not a conflict between the Wiki database and the forums database, as some people who aren't staff here have been suggesting. There was a conflict there a while back, but that problem has already been resolved.
2) The 403 error you sometimes get is because we've taken down the wiki on purpose to stop the server crashing. Please don't be alarmed when you see it. This method allows us to immediately put the wiki back up following the server righting itself.

As part of Project Overgrow, we're bringing Bulbacast back. You can check out the thread detailing how to participate, if you're so inclined.
A few people have asked about the current Bulbapedia downtime. To answer those concerns: we're doing a software upgrade at the moment which may cause it to look crazy, but it'll be fine in a little bit. When it's back, the whole server should run much better.
