Announcing the Bulbagarden Outreach Project

We're pleased to announce a new staff project--the Bulbagarden Outreach Project. This isn't specifically driven by Overgrow II or any other event, but we feel it's an extremely important aspect of the community that we've been neglecting. We want Bulbagarden to be a safe place for people to talk in a civil manner about issues that affect their lives.
Part of that involves everyone being good to one another. But another aspect involves showing leadership on our part in making Bulbagarden a safe space. And we're going to be taking the coming months to talk about a variety of issues and challenges which we believe are important in people's lives. In May, we will be discussing bullying.
We will also be posting a list of resources for each month's issue in the Outside the Box forum. They will list national organizations that provide assistance on a given month's issue. We're going to try to provide resources on each issue in different countries. If you know of a country or organization that's not listed for a given month's topic, please let one of the moderators know and we'll be happy to add it.
As a result of the Outreach Project, you'll see a number of moderators talking about their confrontation with the month's issue in their blogs. If you're comfortable with it, we encourage you to join their discussions or start conversations of your own. Each of the issues, we feel, is an important one that deserves everyone's attention. But if you don't want to join the discussions, that's fine too. Simply being aware of the problems are a good thing, too.
We hope to cover a wide variety of issues, including the aforementioned bullying, sex & sexuality, disability, drugs & alcohol, religion & spirituality, and plenty of others. We'll announce specific topics in the future.
Hopefully, we'll have some productive discussions about these important issues that will help bring everyone together.
