Type chart neo and the catastrophe that befell the ice type ( among others).

One of the most exciting things about this generation for me was waiting for the updated type chart as I was really having a problem with the old chart given how broken and unbalanced it was. As soon as I heard that we were receiving a new type ( a wish come true) I was so optimistic that we might finally have a revised and an updated chart that would do some of the overlooked types a chance. Namely, ice, grass, bug, flying, poison and normal.

It seems to me that GF/ Nintendo clearly favors some types over others. Take fighting for example. While in theory it is resisted by 4 types and is completely ineffective against one, that never seemed to be a big deal because almost (if not all) fully evolved fighting types learn rock types thus destroying birds and bugs in th process.

Then, the updated chart is finally revealed and a new loads of crap was shot at us lol. It is so glaringly blunt now, that GF favors some types over others, that it physically hurts. I like how they nerfed fighting types a lot and I like how they buffed poison, but did this really justify destroying ice in the process?

Basically, the 4 types that are SE against ice will rise to extreme prominence now. rending ice a completely useless type. I mean who would want to use ice when when we have fairy? that is freaking immune to dragons? and when almost every damn water type learns ice beam? If they like some types more than other then they should simply remove the types they don't like. that's way easier.

If I had the chance to change the chart then I would give ice resistances to:

1- Ground ( Cause it is almost not resisted and it makes sense aesthetically).
2-Fairies ( since fire resists fairies then ice should too. Ice affects the natural habitat of fairies (grass) so go figure).
3-Water ( just like bug X poison...too close of types yet so far).
4-And it should also lose its weakness on steel.
5-Stop giving ice moves to every damn single water type.

As for grass:

1- it should resist rock ( same as ground)
2- it should be neutral against on poison, ( herbs are used as a remedy to poison).

As for flying:

1- stop giving fighting and ground types rock moves.
2-Separate flying from normal ala a full differentiation of the flying type ( as wind type) and this could happen by making more pure flying poke anmore primary flying poke.

As for bug:

1- give it a resistance to esper. They have tiny brains, they can't possibly be squashed by psycho power.

As for normal:

1- A weakness to esper. ( same logic with fighting. If physical power can hit neutral and normal poek than psycho power should too).
2-Give normal an immunity to fairies ( same logic with ghost).
3- Normal should be SE against itself.
4- a resistance to ground ( because ground needs nerfing and also normal lives on earth? lol)

And in general give ice, grass, poison, bug, flying, evil and normal more powerful moves.

So, this is my take on the types and the type chart...what do you guys think? I'd love to hear ideas :)

Thank you for reading.

Rock and Ground are basically the same thing, so why shouldn't Ground types have Rock moves? Fighting types possess the power to hurl rocks into the air, so there's your explanation for that.

Grass shouldn't be SE against Poison. By that logic, Poison would also be neutral to Grass, and Poison lacks strengths as it is.

Normal is just normal. It's not supposed to exceed neutrality, otherwise it wouldn't be so normal.

I agree with Fairy. Fire, Ice, and Electric are all elements it should resist, and I always thought that it and Psychic should be good against one another.\, seeing as they're basically counterparts to each other.

Yes, but that doesn't help with flying's immunity to ground and doesn't help bug either. And by that logic anything can hurl rocks into the air >>

I did not say that grass should be SE against poison, I said that it should be neutral.

If it is so normal than why is it weak to fighting? and why is it resisted by rock?!! The only ok thing I find about normal is its immunity to ghost and vice versa.

I'm not sure I understand? Do you mean like fairy should resist fire, ice and electric? or it is the other way around?
Yeah, I was also hoping for some interaction between esper and fairy, but no! they went with utter neutrality >>

I think this is going a bit far, but I like some of these ideas.
