Disclaimer: this blog speaks for me and not the whole staff. Opinions stated are purely my own, and this is intended as a guide only.
Just in light of the current Mini Staff Drive, a note to all the people looking to become moderators: remember what's important. You don't have to be phenomenally active. Your post count means nothing. When I was modded on April 2nd, 2012, I barely had 200 posts. What matters is that you care about your forum, that you care about the people in it. That people can respect you, and even more importantly, that you respect them. That you are proud of your forum, that you want to see it grow and thrive before anything else.
Yes, it's nice having a slightly larger avatar. Yes, it's nice having italics and relaxed signature rules. And sure, I can move and lock threads and hand out infractions if I need to. But that's not what it's about. What's important is that I am now in a position to bring life to the fanfiction forum. I can run events, organise competitions, suggest ways - and take suggestions for ways - to make the forum bigger, better and more fun. I can do that in a way that I wasn't able to before, and that's what it's about.
Being on staff is a big responsibility, but even more than that . . . it's a privilege. I consider myself honoured, and that's a mindset that will take you far. Rather than being given a gift, you are being given an opportunity. Do you want that opportunity?
Then take it with both hands, and I'll see your name in italics before long.
