A People's History of the United States, by Howard Zinn

Specifically, how many of you have had this book assigned to you through a school course (AP US History, to be specific)? I want to get a broader idea of how widespread this book is in education circles.

In all honesty... I haven't even heard of it. D: It looks like something I would enjoy reading.

Never heard of it, and haven't read it. Our U.S. history course mainly involved the textbook and poetries/stories from certain periods.

I have heard of it but I've never met anyone who had to read it for a class. My high school didn't have AP US history.

But I'm a public history major and my college professors are partial to having us read memoirs and other such primary documents instead of "coherent new versions" of history. After glancing at the site you provided, this book doesn't seem like something I would enjoy anyway.
